Author's POV
Hoseok searched for Jungkook everywhere. With frantic eyes and distraught expression, the man ran all over the place to get someone to accompany his friend who was probably shaking in fear in the dark forest.
"Hoseok?!" Jisoo exclaimed in shock, the others mirroring her expression as they walked from behind, seeing him back so soon. "What's happening? Where's Nain?"
The man brushed his hair back with a pained frown. "She told me to go back since I couldn't handle the test. Where's Jungkook? We have to get him to accompany her."
"What the fuck," Yoongi thundered, giving him a reproachful scowl. "How could you leave her like that?"
"That's why I'm trying to find Jungkook as fast as I can!"
Joy cautiously came in between the two, whispering, "He went to the toilet."
Hoseok immediately looked up at the sky when a single drop of water landed on his forehead and the others followed. The rain was starting to pour and they all knew that the girl didn't take an umbrella with her.
"There he is," Joy exclaimed after searching for the man who was flailing his hands, trying to dry them off, and everyone snapped their heads to the direction she was pointing at.
What followed was a cacophony of distressed rambles that caught Jungkook shaken like a deer in headlights.
But as soon as the words 'Nain' and 'danger' reached his ears, his legs moved on their own before his mind could even process the situation.
Still, in his head, he didn't need to assess the situation... All he needed to do was go to her side.
When he dialed her phone number with his shaky fingers, the call didn't reach her, and the panic he felt along with the reverberating sounds of his heart skyrocketed instantly. The thought of her being lost or in danger in this heavy rain was accelerating his breathing and squeezing his chest.
Panting heavily, he followed the path he previously took, running faster than he ever had before and yelling her name repeatedly into the emptiness. No matter how hard he searched, he just couldn't see her anywhere.
The harsh drumming sounds of the downpour was the only thing he heard.
He didn't care when he tripped multiple times.
He didn't care when he got drenched.
His knees almost buckled and his face twisted into desperation. He didn't know if it was the raindrops blurring his eyes or his tears. He didn't care.
The only thing he cared about was her. The only thing he wished was to hold her safely in his arms. There was nothing else he wanted.
"Where have you gone?" He kept repeating in his mind.
"Nain!"
There was nothing.
He kept dialing her number again and again but no matter how many times he tried, he couldn't reach her. He ran back down the path again, but this time, his legs were threatening to fail him.
"Nain, please," he yelled before a whimper left his mouth as he gave into his fears. "Please..."
He was a shivering mess but he couldn't stop. He just couldn't.
