After that exclamation at Malfoy, he seemed different towards me. He wouldn't talk to me willingly, only doing so when being partnered up or about homework.
It was a change, but I loved it. No more Malfoy bugging me at every opportunity about the 'Slytherin ways.'
I hung out more with Ron and Hermione. Although, some days I would feel someone staring at the back of my head, but when I turned around no one was.
Here and then Malfoy would start a conversation with me, somehow it was a decent conversation. He'd try befriending me but I'd always storm away.
It's been a month since I became a Slytherin. Honestly, I've gotten used to it, a bit. Not very much though, I still wish the stupid sorting hat had said Gryffindor. But I've accepted the fact that I'm never going to get a second chance.
I was in the common room, sitting on an arm chair near the fire. Doing my homework and wishing very badly Hermione was there, sitting beside me, helping me do my Potions homework.
I didn't even hear when a certain blond male sat down on the armchair beside mine.
"Hello Potter." Came the voice of Draco Malfoy.
"Malfoy." I said looking up, turning my head to face him. "Here to lecture me about being a Slytherin?"
He sighed, "quit it Potter."
"Why." I said, returning to my Potions homework.
"It's supposed to be two, not one." He said, glancing at my homework.
I looked at him suspiciously, "why are you helping me?"
"Why can't you just be nice to me Potter." Malfoy snapped.
I froze. "Is this what it's all about? Trying to, befriend me so you can tell the whole world that you're friends with Harry Potter."
He sighed. "No."
"Then what?" I said, propping my elbows on top of my homework, staring at Malfoy.
"I just want to be friends with you Potter, but I guess that's too much to ask for." He snapped at me. He got up and joined Crabbe and Goyle, whom were playing wizard chess a few feet away.
I was stunned.
Draco Malfoy. Wants to be friends, with me? Be actual friends, not just friends because.. he wants to be known, or famous.
Although, he had been trying to become friends with me. I had just thought that he wanted to befriend me, to tell the Wizarding World that he was friends with famous Harry Potter.
But, maybe.. that wasn't it.
I tried talking to Malfoy for weeks, but whenever he'd see me he would suddenly be in a heated discussion with Crabbe or Goyle, or else walking in the other direction. Or just straight out ignoring me.
At one point I decided to corner Malfoy as he left the bathroom. I pinned him on the wall as he exited the bathroom.
"What the hell Potter?" He said, glaring at me.
"Why did you say you wanted to be friends with me." I said, making sure he couldn't escape. "Did you mean it?"
"I was just in the bathroom! And you decide to corner me as I come out." He huffed.
"Was it for real, or an act to befriend me and tell the whole world you know me." I said, more demanding.
"Oh and now you're messing up my hair!" Malfoy said, glaring daggers at me. "I spent hours on that this morning."
"Malfoy!" I yelled.
"What!" He yelled back.
"Answer me! In the name of Merlin--do I have to ask it one more time." I said dangerously.
"Or what." Malfoy said lazily.
"For once, stop being a prat, take down your honor and answer me!" I exclaimed, dragging him into the bathroom and backing him into a corner as I took out my wand.
"I learned a new jinx a couple days ago, and I'm not afraid to use it." I said dangerously.
A look of panic crossed Malfoy's eyes but it quickly vanished.
"Well Potter, I did too." Malfoy said, whipping out his own wand, making me back away slowly. Malfoy laughed,
"Scared Potter?"
"You wish."
"Now are you going to jinx me or can we leave?" Malfoy said, eyeing my wand.
"Well I asked you a simple question and we are not leaving until I get an answer." I said, practicing the jinx in my head.
"I'm not giving you an answer, Potter," said Malfoy, looking me dead in the eyes with a look that said, try me
"Okay then." I said, aiming my wand at him.
"A-" I started.
The door banged open.
