The next day I still felt a load of excitement and happiness from being accepted into our house Quidditch team the previous day. Nothing could lower my spirits.
The day had passed fairly quickly. Classes didn't seem very long considering I was daydreaming about Quidditch.
"Harry!"
I stumbled back into reality. "Huh?"
"You spilled your pumpkin juice onto the table!" Draco exclaimed. I suddenly felt a wetness soaking into my sleeve. "Ugh!"
I yanked my sleeve away from the table. "Sorry." I said. I grabbed some tissues and wiped away most of the mess. Draco grinned, "what're you thinking about?"
"Quidditch."
"Duh."
"Duh?"
"I am too."
I smiled. I checked the time on my watch. A memory from yesterday entered my mind.
"Meet me at the lake tomorrow evening after classes. I'd like to talk about something.."
Hermione.
Right.
"Sorry Draco, I've got to go." I said. I stood up. Draco was watching me suspiciously. "What?" I asked.
"Where are you going?" Draco asked curiously. "I'm going to meet Hermione somewhere." I explained, hoping that that didn't sound like an excuse to get away from him.
Draco raised a perfect eyebrow. "Alright..."
I smiled at him, before waving and exiting the Great Hall. As I left I felt his eyes on me all the way out.
I crossed over towards the lake. There was a girl sitting by the waters edge, swinging her legs and biting a cracker. "Hermione!" I yelled as I came into hearing range. She turned her head, "hey Harry." She pat the space beside her, indicating for me to sit next to her. I came over and sat. There was silence, the only sound coming from her eating crackers.
"So?"
She swallowed the last piece of her cracker. "Harry."
She was looking at me, dead in the eyes. I started fidgeting with my hands. Hermione is smart. She can read people like a book.
"I know."
I gulped. What secret did she find out?
"Know what?" I asked, struggling to keep my voice even.
"You know.." Said Hermione, she waved her hands in the air to indicate something.
I shook my head. "I don't understand Hermione."
She sighed. "I know your secret."
My breathing came faster. My heart pumped louder in my ears. I stared anywhere but at her.
"What secret?"
She grabbed my hands, making me face her. "I know you fancy Draco."
