I awoke to see Malfoy rushing out of the room. It seems like he doesn't want to be anywhere near me.

Which I'm perfectly fine with.

I got up and dressed into my robes, pulling on a pair of socks while hopping out the door.

I walked down the dormitory stairs to the sight of some sixth years huddled in a corner, talking animatedly about something. And Draco Malfoy, leading his cronies Crabbe and Goyle out the portrait hole.

I walked silently behind them as they headed towards the Great Hall for breakfast. I waved at Ron and Hermione from across the room, them returning the wave cheerily.

I sat down at an empty spot at the Slytherin table, quietly munching on a piece of toast.

Time creeped by and suddenly it was time for Transfiguration with Professor Mcgonagall.

The Slytherins and the Gryffindors all lined up, chatting excitedly. I moved through the crowd towards Ron and Hermione, who were having an argument about some homework.

"Hey guys." I said as I approached them.

They stopped bickering and looked at me.

"Hi Harry." Hermione said, smiling.

Ron waved and I waved back.

"Listen, I have detention-" I began, lowering my voice to a minimum.

"You--what!" Hermione gasped, interuppting me.

"I got detention." I rolled my eyes.

"With who? Why?" Ron asked, clearly interested rather than horrified.

"With Snape, because I was going to jinx Malfoy, he wasn't giving me straight answers." I said quickly.

"You were going to jinx Malfoy? Detention with Snape?" Ron questioned me.

"Yeah. He walked in as I was beginning to say the jinx." I answered, nodding.

Ron swore, "if only Snape hadn't walked in.. I'd have loved to see Malfoy in a bit of  trouble. Hah!"

"Harry! You really shouldn't have," Hermione stared at me as if I was some other person.

"Relax Hermione, he didn't jinx Malfoy so don't start it." Ron said to her in an arguing tone.

"But he was going  too! And he got in detention because of it." Hermione huffed.

At that moment the door of the Transfiguration classroom opened. We all filed in and took our seats.

The morning of classes flew by and suddenly it was lunch time. I was quietly eating my sandwich, glancing at Ron and Hermione talking at the Gryffindor table and feeling a pang of jealousy.

"Excuse me." Squeaked another first year girl whom I didn't know.

"Uh, hello." I said dully.

She handed me a piece of parchment, "I was told to give you this." She said, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks.

"Thanks.." I said, picking up the rolled piece of parchment from her hand.

She left and marched towards the Ravenclaw table. Quickly becoming englufed in a load of questions from other Ravenclaw students.

I unrolled the piece of parchment and read,

Detention tonight at 8

Snape

I groaned. I was planning on visiting Hagrid with Ron and Hermione today at 8, I suppose I'll have to cancel on them.

I stood and walked towards the Gryffindor table. Attracting the stares of many as I stopped in front of Ron and Hermione.

"I'm going to have to cancel on Hagrid's tonight." I sighed, handing them the parchment. Both read it quickly and looked  at me.

"We'll tell Hagrid you weren't able to come." Hermione said, with a hint of annoyance in her tone, which meant she was still disapproving of my detention.

"Thanks." I smiled, thanking them and leaving the Great Hall.

I entered the common room earlier than all the other Slytherins. I sat down on an armchair and began to do my Charms essay.

After some time the portrait hole opened and in came Draco Malfoy. Alone.

He looked around the room until his eyes found Harry Potter, me.

"Potter." He said, crossing the room and sitting on an armchair near mine.

"Malfoy." I said, looking up and I stopped writing, mid sentence.

"We have detention at 8." Malfoy said curtly.

"I've noticed." I said, going back to writing my essay.

He didn't say anything for a while.

"Are you going to tell me?" I asked.

"Tell you what?" Malfoy returned.

"Don't be so ignorant." I scoffed. "You know what I'm talking about."

He thought about it, "no. I don't think I am."

I stared at him, "why not? Surely it can't be that hard."

"Whatever you say Potter." He shrugged and left as Pansy Parkinson entered the common room.

I watched him leave and thought about what tonight's detention was going to be like.
