"I know you fancy Draco."
"Rubbish." I said, I teared my hands away from her and shoved them into my pockets. "Its true Harry." Said Hermione, she tried to grab my hands again but I moved over. "Its not." I said stubbornly.
"Harry.."
"'Mione.."
"You fancy Draco."
I stood up and walked away from her. "Harry!" She called. "What?" I yelled over my shoulder. "I see the way you look at him." Hermione added. "Yeah, as a friend." I said with a hint of annoyance. I remembered Pansy had said the same thing. "I see the way your eyes stay on him a moment longer than neccessary." Hermione yelled as I walked faster. I heard her catch up. "How do you know you're not just seeing things?" I asked with obvious annoyance. "You always talk about Draco with a dreamy look in your eyes. Or, a lovesick puppy." Said Hermione. "Oh yeah?" I asked angrily. I spun around suddenly and faced Hermione. She stopped as well.
"How do you know you're not imagining things?"
She looked up to the sky and made a grabbing motion in the air with frustration. "I.. I just, I just know Harry."
"Oh yeah, listen to yourself." I rolled my eyes. Hermiones eyes flared. "Stop being stubborn. You know its true."
"Its not! Listen to yourself- you act as if you know me." I snapped.
"I do know you Harry!"
"Maybe you don't Hermione! Maybe everything you know about me is just the facts everyone else knows! Maybe you try to know me to prove that you are a know-it-all at everything!" I yelled.
She took a step back. Her eyes flashed with hurt. I know I went too far, but she had made me too angry.
"I try to know you Harry! Unlike you. The only person you ever talk about anything to is your sweet Draco. All you say is "hello" and a simple conversation- then you leave! I want to know you, you're a genuinely nice person but maybe, I was wrong." She snapped. Tears were streaming down her face now.
"Don't bring Draco into this-"
"I did though! All this is because of your precious Draco!" Hermione yelled.
I stayed silent.
"All you need is Draco! If I left, you wouldn't care. Because you have Draco." Hermione sobbed. "Me and Ron don't- I DON'T matter to you Harry!"
I froze. Of course she matters to me.
"Course you matter to me Hermione."
"Maybe I do. But it wouldn't matter anyway. You don't trust me with anything- I tell you everything, I thought we were close best friends.."
"Hermione.. I just don't trust Gryffindors much."
Silence.
It dawned upon me that I had said the wrong thing.
"Hermione-"
"No no, I get it. You can't trust me because our houses are rivals. But, I really thought that that didn't matter." Hermione said sadly, she wiped away her tears.
"Harry?"
Hermione and I spun towards the sound. Draco stood a few feet away, an amazed expression plastered onto his face.
"Draco.." My voice softened. Draco crossed the few feet, he put an arm around my shoulders, "stop Hermione." He said calmly.
She rolled her eyes. Draco saw that.
"You're just jealous because Harry trusts me."
"Oh I know that." Hermione said quietly, tears were streaming down her face once more. "I.."
She looked at me. Right in the eyes. An intense pain erupted inside me. I felt bad. Really bad. I hurt Hermione...
"Bye.. Harry." She said quietly. And right then, I understood. We weren't going to talk for a while.
"No, Hermione-"
A sob escaped her, "you only need Draco. And thats okay, I'll.. see you tomorrow." She then ran away.
"Hermione!" I yelled after her.
"Its okay Harry, shes not worth it." Draco said, rubbing my back in circles.
