Ever since the fight with Draco and Hermione, I've mostly kept to myself in classes and everywhere else. I never spoke much. There were still whispers and staring following me everywhere.
It was now mid December. It was very cold, and snow was constantly falling. I was currently in the common room, sitting at a table near a window. I had homework in front of me but I had no intentions to do it. I rested my elbow on the ledge and stared out into the grounds. Light was pouring from Hagrid's cabin. I got up and decided to visit him. I haven't talked to Hagrid in a while anyway.
I put away my things, then dashed out the portrait hole. I walked quickly through the hallways, luckily I encountered no one. I made my way towards Hagrid's cabin, I plowed through the deep snow.
I arrived. I knocked on his door. There was shuffling inside, and barking erupted.
"Down yer big dog!"
I smiled a bit as the door opened, revealing Hagrid and a small but cozy cabin. Hagrid practically lit up, "its you 'Arry!" Hagrid ushered me inside. I walked towards the warmth of the fire, instantly I warmed up. A boarhound ran up to me, and without warning began licking my face. I laughed and pushed it off, Hagrid smiled. "Down Fang!"
"Whats up 'Arry?"
"I came to talk about Hermione an-" I stopped, I didn't think it wise telling Hagrid about Draco. Not yet. "Just..Hermione."
Hagrid's eyebrows shot into his hair, "'Arry..do you, like, 'Mione?" Hagrid asked, looking shocked. I shook my head, "'course not, we just got into a fight..." I lowered my eyes and started swinging my legs.
"Oh."
There was silence.
"Why don't yer just talk to 'er?" Hagrid asked gently. I covered my face with my hands, "I tried Hagrid. And I don't think she wants to speak with me." My voice broke. I breathed hard, willing myself not to start tearing up. Hagrid probably sensed that outcome, because he said, "tea?"
I let my hands fall to my sides, "yes please." As Hagrid bustled around preparing tea, I used that time to think about Draco. Everytime Draco's words popped into my head, I tried my best to shut it out. Because he was happy, that I..wasn't friends with Hermione. At least for now.
Hagrid pushed the tea towards me, "here." I nodded my thanks and sipped. It tasted warm and sweet. Hagrid and I spent the afternoon sipping tea, not really muttering a word. When I had drained the last bit of my tea I stood up, "mind if I visit you again soon?"
"Thats not a problem." Hagrid replied, taking my cup and standing as well. I hesitated, then hugged him. Hagrid looked down at me, just a little taller than his waist, and hugged me back. We stayed like that for a few moments, but then I pulled away. "Bye Hagrid." I said, waving.
