Dinner was fast approaching and still, I had not seeked Hermione. I was hoping that "I'll talk to you later" wasn't some lame excuse.

I'll look for Hermione during dinner.

Yeah, I'll do that.

"Potter?"

I shook my head as I fell back to reality. Proffesor Mcgonagall (and the rest of the class) was watching me.

"I asked you what the answer was to question ten."

"I- uh..." I said with a gulp. Just as I was about to answer something ridiculous, the bell rang. My hero.

I practically jumped out of my seat, then dashed out the door as Proffessor Mcgonagall was shouting out our homework.

"Harry! Harry wait up!"

I halted to a stop. "What is it Draco?"

Draco slowly stopped, panting. "Where are you going this fast?"

"Dinner."

"Dinner? You're that hungry?" Asked Draco with a laugh. I chose to ignore that. I turned around and continued walking towards the Great Hall. I heard Draco following me but didn't bother to stop. As I entered, my eyes immediately swept towards the Gryffindor table. Once again, I only saw Ron. Alone.

I headed over. I could feel Draco's eyes on my back, but at the moment I didn't care.

"Hi, Ron."

He looked up.

"Hi Harry."

There was a slightly awkward pause. "Chicken?" Ron offered awkwardly, extending the plate in front of him towards me. "No thanks..wheres Hermione?"

Ron visibly stiffened. "Uh, she went to eat somewhere else." He didn't meet my eyes. We both knew why. "Okay, thanks.." I said, before turning and heading towards the Slytherin table, my spirits low.

Draco had saved me a seat, although not a with a very welcoming look.

I was in the common room, looking through a book for answers to the homework assigned to me by Proffesor Snape. I heard someone plop onto the chair beside mine.

"Harry."

I looked up, midway through writing a sentence.

"Draco."

"I wanted to talk." Draco began uncertainly. He seemed unsure about what he wanted to speak about. "Okay." I replied, I shut the book I was using and placed it onto the table in front of me. "What is it?"

"About us."

I raised my eyebrows in surprise. Draco blushed.

"No not like that.. I meant, after what happened with Granger..." Said Draco, a little blush still on his cheeks.

I stiffened. "What about it?"

"I just wanted to say that you were right, to say that."

"To say what?" I asked suspiciously.

Draco looked unsure at this point. "About..the whole Gryffindor Slytherin thing." Draco finished, and as he did, there was a certain air hanging around us.

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"I-" I began.

"You were right! You finally got sense knocked into you!" Draco said more quickly, feeling that Harry wasn't about to yell.

"Draco-"

"I'm glad you finally rid of Granger. Shes Gryffindor, a mudblood, a know-it-all..."

His last words made me feel horrible. Know-it-all. I had called Hermione that, that day. And I regret it. Here Draco is saying it with.. a little disgust.

"Shes so annoying as well. I don't know how you put up with her."

I felt myself heating up with anger.

"-And shes not even a good friend-"

"Draco!" I yelled. He jumped, he stopped talking very suddenly. "You don't get to talk about my best friend like that." I said, rounding up on him. For a moment, fear shone brightly across his face. But it disappeared quickly. He stood, "best friend? She's a stupid Gryffindor. And she does nothing for you." Draco yelled.

"She does a lot of stuff for me, so don't call her stupid." I fired back.

"She's a mudblood!" Draco said in frustration.

"I thought you were over that kind of stuff!"

"I guess I'm not!"

I breathed heavily, then tured around. "You don't get it." I said, my voice barely more than a whisper. But I knew Draco would hear my every word. "You don't know what its like having a best friend like her, shes amazing..and I feel really bad. So stop making it worse."

I gathered all my things and left. Draco stood, frozen to the spot, whilst staring into the fire.
