The Weasleys were supposed to pick me up today and take me to Diagon Alley. I was a bit worried whether they would show up with something magical because Uncle Vernon would not tolerate that.
At half past twelve, I dragged my trunk down the stairs and into the hall. Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and Dudley were already saeated on one of the couches by the fire. Uncle Vernon wore a stern look on his face, but that didn't conceal the frightened look he had. Aunt Petunia was fiddling with her thumbs in her lap, glancing outside the window every couple seconds. Dudley sat in the middle of the two, trying very hard to look as small as possible. I sat on one of the couches, impatiently waiting for the Weasley's to arrive. After another half hour passed, I was starting to feel a tad anxious. What if they're not coming?
Just as Uncle Vernon opened his mouth to complain, the fire turned green and voices suddenly came out of it.
"Ouch!"
"Fred, that's my foot!"
At this point the Dursleys head's swished toward the fire, their eyes going wider. I tried my best to hold in my laugh, but a tiny chuckle escaped me.
"Harry is that you? Let us out!"
"Yes, its me."
"We're trapped!"
The Dursleys looked back and forth between the voices and I, looking more frightened by the second.
"No worries, I'll just remove this barrier."
Almost immediately, the glass protecting the electric fire disappeared. The Dursleys jumped off the bed and his behind the couch, but Uncle Vernon stayed sitting, although he looked frightened but angry.
"What did you just do to my fire!" Uncle Vernon roared. "Nothing I can't fix." Mr. Weasley calmly replied. "Go on boys, go on to Diagon Alley. We'll just have to bring Harry's trunk home first."
Uncle Vernon looked like he was on the verge of a rage. But when he glanced at the wand, he smartly decided not to speak.
"'Ello mate!"
I turned around to see Ron walking out of the fire. "Ron!" I yelled. Ron grinned. "We'll just go and take your trunk Harry." Said Fred, grinning. I nodded. Fred and George grasped one end of my trunk and heaved it near the fire.
"The Burrow!"
The fire turned green once more. Fred and George stepped through the fire together. I held in a gasp, expecting them to start burning. "Floo powder. Lets you travel through fireplaces." Ron grinned, watching Harry's expression. Mr. Weasley turned to Ron and I. "Now its your turn boys, wait for me at Diagon Alley. I just have to sort out their fireplace."
I felt unsure. "I don't know how to do it Mr. Weasley, I've never travelled by..floo powder."
"Oh yes you've never done it! Just walk up to the fire and throw this powder into it, say clearly the destination you want to go to, and step into the fire."
I nodded, still feeling unsure. "We'll let Ron go first," Mr. Weasley said gently to me. Ron nodded and marched towards the fire. Ron threw the powder into the fire,
"Diagon Alley!"
He was gone in an instant. "Go on now Harry." Mr. Weasley said gently, pushing me slightly on the back.
I stepped closer to the fire and threw the powder in. "Diagon Alley!" I yelled. I closed my eyes and stepped into the fire, expecting a raging heat. Instead, the fire felt warm. I opened my eyes the tiniest bit and saw living rooms wooshing past. Suddenly I stopped moving and crashed onto a rug.
"Harry? Harry!"
I looked up to see a blurry Ron bending over me, looking slightly worried. "You took quite the fall."
I sat up and rubbed my nose gently, "I'm fine." I grabbed my glasses--which flew off my face when I fell--and pushed them onto my face. The world came into focus. Only then did I notice the bustling street filled to the brim with wizards and witches. Just then Mr. Weasley popped out of the fire from behind, smoothing out his jacket. "Lets go do our shopping. Molly has already gotten all your quills."
After a nice long shopping trip with the Weasleys, I excused myself and went to look for Draco. He was the biggest reason as to why I was excited to come.
I came across a shop with a bench in front, sitting in that bench, was a boy with pale blond hair gelled back. I smiled, he hadn't seen me. I slowly crept up on him and when I was right behind, I jumped out, "boo!"
Draco jumped slightly, then turned to see who it was. A smile crept onto his face, making my heart pound. "Hello to you too Harry."
Draco scooted farther along the bench, giving me room to sit. I sat down beside him. "I missed you over the holidays." Draco said softly so that no one but I could hear. I willed myself not to blush, "I..I missed you too, Draco." I replied. Draco rested his head on my shoulder, and I think my heart sprouted wings and soared into the sky. We just sat there, Draco's head on my shoulder, not talking, but enjoying the presence of each other amidst a busy street.
"Harry?"
Draco looked up at me.
"Yeah?"
Draco opened his mouth as if trying to say something. His eyes transformed into a soft gray that made me want to melt.
"I...I really..." Draco started.
"There you are Harry!" Came Ron's booming voice.
Draco and I jumped and immediately seperated. We looked away from each other and tried not to look as guilty as possible. "We're leaving now Harry." Ron continued as if he hadn't walked in and interuppted something important. "Oh- all right." I said, standing up. I turned around, "I'll see you at school." I said to Draco, smiling just for him. He smiled back, which made me feel like I was melting.
If only Ron hadn't showed up. Draco was about to tell me something. Important, I feel like it was.
