Bailey was worried when Adrian didn't come back to the hotel room that night, and when he didn't see him at breakfast, nor lunch, and when he did see him at the game, he ignored him, didn't even glance at him. He was worried when he saw that Adrian had left before he could even come and congratulate him on his victory, when he didn't show up to the room again, and when Peter had suddenly started being rude to him.

It was soul-crushing when he cried himself to sleep and even more so when he woke up screaming in a cold sweat at 2 a.m. again from night terrors, his whole body trembling, Adrian's name falling from his lips over and over.

Eventually he cried to the point of exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep. This time it lasted longer, and was dreamless, uneventful. He finally woke up around noon, his eyes red and puffy, his lip split open from being chewed on. He hated to admit it but he looked like shit, at least it somewhat matched how he felt.

He had hurried to get dressed and get lunch straight away before rushing to the semi finals to watch Adrian. Despite all that had happened, he needed to cheer him on. What if Adrian was just having a bad day, what if something had happened? He needed to know what was wrong but hadn't had the chance, the heart to talk to anyone about it.

He couldn't help but notice that Adrian did seem a little off, he seemed to be playing limply, if that made sense, he seemed angry, rough, but  like he didn't care at the same time, like nothing mattered.

Chills traveled down his spine when Adrian scored a goal and he shouted Adrian's name in congratulation, and they made eye contact, but Adrian didn't smile. He couldn't tell if it was a glare either, whatever it was, it hurt him, and even more when he spotted Adrian smile at the cheerleader.

He felt a pang at his heart, it was the girl who had walked in on them, Delphine. She was cheering for her own school's team, the one Adrian's team had been so worried about but seemed to be taking without a problem. Why was Adrian smiling at her but glaring at him? What did I do wrong? Bailey thought, is it all the time I spent with Peter? He rolled his eyes at the thought of him, and how useless and the time he wasted on him was, considering he'd suddenly decided Bailey was too much for him. Goddamn, of course he got weirded out by his story, I shouldn't have opened up so quickly.

Bailey's thoughts were interrupted when Adrian ended up making a third foul and having to be benched. The whole game he'd been way too rough, more than usual. He'd stopped caring about the rules, and Bailey could tell. Something wasn't right. He'd pushed down a guy, kicked one in the shin with his studs and elbowed one in the rib. Usually, if Adrian were to attempt something like that, he'd do it when nobody would notice, but now he wasn't even trying to let it go unnoticed.

Nevertheless, he stormed off the field, to the bench, and sat there, fuming. Bailey sighed, worried, you brought this upon yourself, honey. He sat back in his seat and watched the match, this time paying more attention to Tristan playing, cheering him on. That is, until he noticed the cheerleaders take a break from cheering and Delphine sat down next to Adrian.

“How dare she?” he muttered to himself, his hands trembling slightly. No, it was okay. He would go talk to Adrian afterwards, he would figure out what was wrong, what he did wrong.

Adrian was finally let back onto the field when the coach realised that they would lose without him, and sent him in for the last few minutes to score a goal so they'd win.

Adrian wasn't in the mood to celebrate that they'd gotten to the finals and didn't have to go home yet, he wasn't in the mood to do anything. He had reacted so badly when shown the audio, he'd run out and screamed into the black abyss of the night, cried his eyes dry, and forced Blake to find a girl to sleep with so he could room with Mason. (Blake didn't complain, of course).
