"You scared the shit out of me" I said, as I looked at miss Lovato, who now sat next to me.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. By the way, I can't comment about you're language, outside of school, but please don't use it in front of the girls" she said.
"I'm sorry"
"No, that's fine. I curse sometimes, too. I just don't want Sierra to hear. What are you doing?"
I just shrugged my shoulders. Why would she have to butt into my life?
"Tell me a little about you. I want to get to know you better" she said.
"What do you want to know?"
"Just, tell me about your life"
"Well, fifteen years ago, I was born to William and Dana Johnson. I was their only child for thirteen years, and then they got another girl, Soph. I go to school and I'm currently staying at my teachers house, which is something I hoped I didn't have to do"
She smiled at me.
"I like you're story. Now mind telling me more?"
"Like?"
"How's school? Have any friends? What are your hobbies? Do any sports? Things like that"
"School's fine. Yes, I have friends. Love playing with my little sister. Don't do any sports"
"Your friends go to our school?"
"Yep"
"Who are they?"
"Mike Reiss and Andrea Brown"
"I know them. I teach them, too"
"I know"
"They are your only friends?"
"Kinda"
"So, you love playing with your sister?"
"Yep"
"You love her, don't you?"
"Are you observing me?"
"No, you just show it. You're a very different person in school and at home. In school, you're like a tough girl. You walk around, don't give a damn about what people think of you and say what's on your mind. At home, you're more of a softie. You take your sister to the park, you play with her, you do what your parents want you to do and you show them love and care. When I had that talk with you, before I called your mom, I thought you were this rebellious teenager that doesn't listen to her parents, fights with her sibling and drives people crazy. When I came into your house, I was kinda shocked by how different you were. You were nothing I though you'd be and I liked that, a lot. So, no, I'm not observing you. I can just see it in the way you treat her" she finished her speech. I didn't know what to say, so I stayed quiet.
"What are you thinking about?" she asked.
"Why do you ask?"
"You had a thinking face, so I was wondering"
"Do you always butt into people's lives like this?"
"No, I would just really like to get to know you better"
"Who said I want you to?"
"No one"
"Exactly, so please, miss Lovato, don't bother" I was being rude. I knew it, but couldn't stop myself. In my mind she was still me teacher. To my teacher I didn't mind talking like that, but to her, at home, I did. I felt kinda bad.
"Please call me Demi. And I'm sorry. You don't have to tell me anything, if you don't want to" she said. I saw a pang of hurt in her eyes, but she tried to play it cool. I felt really bad about my behavior.
"No, I'm sorry. I just have to get used to you not being my teacher. I'll just go to bed, if you don't mind" I said.
"Of course! Sleep well, honey" she said and I went to bed.
