Chapter 8: Grace & Elegance!!

"Sierra?" Jeremy called in a worried tone still standing at the door step. Sierra was sitting on the bed with her back resting firmly on the back rest. He ran across the room and hugged Sierra.

"Dad?" called Sierra with a small smile lingering on her beautiful face.

"Oh Sierra! Are you fine baby?" asked Jeremy with tears in his eyes.

"Dad!" Sierra tried to talk but was interrupted by Jeremy.

"I... I..." Jeremy's voice almost broke down but he tried to settle down himself. He took a few long breaths and said

"I am really sorry dear" Sierra simply scrunched her eyebrows in confusion.

"I am sorry for not being able to protect you. I am sorry for simply trusting that MASON!! How could I not see that? I am sorry Sierra. I am truly sorry for everything!" said Jeremy in a tone dipped with utmost regret and shame.

"No! Don't say that Dad!" interrupted Sierra before Jeremy could apologise to her anymore. She never in her wildest dreams had imagined her father would ever apologise to her. And who would even imagine that?

"It is not your mistake so; please stop apologising for something which you haven't done. In fact, it was my mistake! I should have known him better; I should have known about him earlier" said Sierra in a firm tone looking directly into Jeremy's eyes. Jeremy could see Sierra's hurt and anger mixed together when she was talking about Mason. These expressions were so alien on her face.

"No, it was my duty to see that you were safe. And, I failed that" Jeremy said in the most sincere and regretful tone which made Sierra's heart melt. But she knew Jeremy was not the one at fault.

"No dad! You have not failed!" Sierra said with a smile on her face and before Jeremy could even interrupt her she said "You know something?"

"A father's duty is not only to protect his children, but it is also to make them fight all by themselves when the need arises. And you just did that. You raised me like a fighter dad!" Sierra's words surprised Jeremy to no end. Sometime back when he almost broke looking at Sierra's condition and kept blaming himself for not being able to protect his daughter, Xander also had said the same. He didn't know how Xander and Sierra thought alike! And before he could think about anything else, Sierra's words broke his revere.

"I never had any complaints with you, I have no complaints now and I also know that I will never ever have any complaints in the future too. I am extremely proud to be your daughter and I love you Dad! I love you!" said Sierra with tears in her eyes and love for Jeremy oozing out of her words and voice. The entire scenario brought tears in Jeremy's eyes. He was thanking god for giving him Sierra as his daughter and for keeping her safe.

"Dad?"

"Dad?" Jeremy was brought back from his thoughts.

"Where are you lost?" asked Sierra looking at Jeremy with a quizzical expression stuck on her face.

"Is everything ok?" asked Sierra keeping her right palm on Jeremy's left cheek and kept looking at him.

"Yeah, everything is fine. I am really happy that you are fine" said Jeremy with a small smile playing on his face.

"Hey, I forgot to ask. How did you even know that Mason did this to me? You were not even there where it all happened" asked Sierra in a confused tone.

"Oh No!" Sierra almost yelled while covering her mouth with her both palms. Her eyes were wide open in shock.

"That guy who saved me. Where is he? Oh my god, He was shot! How is he? Is he doing fine? Has something happened to him?" Sierra kept shooting questions out of nowhere. She felt bad for the guy who saved her life. She desperately wanted to know how he was doing. Jeremy could totally understand what must be going on in Sierra's mind.
