Nick's P.O.V
I don't know exactly how long I've been here waiting for the DA to finally decide whether they will file charges on me or I'll be released. I know for sure I'm not guilty, this is probably a part of his plan, they will win the competition so easily. By doing this, everyone in the crew will definitely postponed their practice. Oh, what will Duante say when he found out about this. I might have gone into a fight but I've never gone into jail, and so does everyone else in the crew. What will my mom say when she finds out that her son got into jail? Huh, she'll probably kick me out of the house. I don't know, I can't think straight anymore.
"Nick Mara." The police officer's voice broke me out of my thoughts. I stood up as he continued, "The DA said to release you, they won't file any charges on you since the evidence wasn't enough."
By that the police officer opened the cell door and let me out of the cell. He gave me back my belongings that was kept by them. I put on my watch and put my wallet on my back pocket. I thanked the officer before making my way out of the room to the waiting room. I saw Vinh and Ian waiting on the bench while they both looked so tired.
"Nick my man! Finally! I'm glad they release you." Ian hugged me tightly. He released from the hug a few seconds after that, then he let me talk to Vinh.
"Nick, you sure did make us all worry and mad at the same time!" Vinh embraced me in a hug. "You know, what you said was true... We all too focused on the prize to even realize that one of us, now two of us are in danger. I mean family should've stick together."
"I'm sorry too, for making such a dumb decision and try to save Adeline alone." I apologized to both of them. "Talking about Adeline, how is she now?"
"She's fine, Edwin and Ansley visited her to know her condition. No major injury but there is a minor one which can be healed if she takes enough rest." Ian answered. "Oh, and she said this herself that she want to quit the crew. She said she won't tell anyone about the crew and the underground competition. I also think this is the best for her, we put her into this, even though the first time she found out about our crew was out of her curiosity, but still."
"Oh okay." was all that escaped out of my mouth. I mean, what can I do to stop her? She doesn't deserve all of these that happened to her in the first place, and I don't want to put her into more of it.
I asked Ian to take me back to my apartment, since I'm not really in the mood to meet other people, right now. Ian told me on our way back that our crew decided to quit from the competition which I don't take it lightly at first because I remembered all the practices that we've been through and all the sacrifices that we've given, we can't just quit. But Ian said it's for the better. So once again the Vulture wins, just like what they always wanted.
"Don't do anything stupid while you're alone." Ian said as I left his car.
"Okay, dad." I said mockingly at him before walking in to my apartment building. I went to the elevator and press the 10th floor button. When the elevator doors opened, I stepped out of the metal box to the hallway. I unlocked the apartment door and got in. I saw something a bit off when I walked in. Where were Adeline's belongings? Did someone stole it?!
Just before I can make more assumptions, my phone ring and I saw Edwin's name on the screen. "Nick! Heard that you got released."
"Yeah, can you explain why Adeline's belongings are all gone?" I said as I walked into Adeline's bedroom which is now looked so empty without her things in it, just the furniture that have already been there before.
