It was a beautiful sunny afternoon. Leaning by the window in her room, Nnadia breathes a sigh of relief. It is the only place she could really be alone with just her thoughts to keep her company.

She gazed down at the beautiful houses and the sea. Perks of living up the hills in Freetown. At night, you even get to see the lights across the sea, all the way at tagrin_lungi, where the national airport is situated. The view was always stunning to her. But not today, everything had lost its charm, even the breathtaking view because of how broken her heart is.

She turned to go back to her bed, but unfortunately, her gaze fell on Mike's junior, her favorite teddy bear. The sight of it immediately brought tears to her eyes. Her heart clenched from pain. 'I need to get rid of it.' She thought to herself. ' I need to get rid of anything that is connected to him.'

This teddy bear was given to her by Mike, her boyfriend, or rather her ex_boyfriend. The sight of it made her recall the ugly incident that occurred the previous day. Tears started flowing more rapidly. It was only yesterday that he had told her how much he loved her and that she was his life. And this teddy bear, he had lovingly bought her for valentine's.

" Happy valentine's day, babe." He had said as he handed the cute white teddy bear with a red bow on its neck.

" Thank you, sweetheart." Nnadia had replied, flashing him her brightest smile.

It is the sight of the same teddy bear that is now causing her so much pain. The thought of Mike, her Mike.

" No. No, not my Mike anymore. He was never mine, to begin with,If he could do something like this, then he never loved me." Nnadia said to herself in tears.

They had been fine the previous day. She had spent most of her time in the car chatting with him and smiling at his replies.

All that had happened on her way to her aunt's place where she was to go on vacation for a few days. She just finished her final exams from the University. Her boyfriend, on the other hand, was still on exams, so he was home studying. They had chatted on WhatsApp all morning, it was Nnadia who had to stop because she didn't want to affect his studies. At least not when they were now a finalist.

Later that day, after Nnadia had finished helping her aunt with cooking, she was sent to get some ice cream at Gigibonta, their favorite ice cream parlor.

Coming out the doors of Gigibonta holding two heavy plastic with ice cream takeaway, Nnadia was met with the shock of her life. Mike who was supposed to be home studying was holding the hands of a girl coming her way. She just stood rooted in her spot and only recovered after they had passed right by her with the love of her life not even saying as much as "hi" to her.

" Okay, Nnadia. You finished cooking with my aunt and then you went to sleep immediately. Remember right? You're dreaming, this is just a dream." She told herself.

" But, but why do I feel that I'm awake?" She said again, this time pinching herself hard. The pain she felt made her realize that she was definitely awake. If only her heart would agree with her. Looking around her, the other people do not seem to be sleeping.

' Did he just ignore my presence or am I daydreaming?' She thought to herself. It was only after she looked back to see them entering into the ice cream parlor that she realized it really happened.

" But he loves me right? He told me this morning. So what's going on. He promised to marry only me. Why is he with someone else?" Nnadia said a little bit out loud, earning a few spectators. They stared at her as if she was about to go mad.

She started sweating profusely, tears escaping her eyes. Still not believing what just happened, she took out her phone and tried calling him, hoping he was home and that the person who just ignored her was his look-alike.

Immediately the phone started ringing, the call was cut off. She tried again but all she got was, number busy. Right then she knew, she knew he really didn't love her at all. All his sweet words had been a lie.

She has sacrificed three years of her life with him for nothing. She had fought with her best friend for him for nothing. She had done the unspeakable with him for nothing.

Trembling, Nnadia knew that she really needed to get out of there as soon as possible. She had to escape, she felt her heart tighten with pain, more tears spilled from her eyes. She must leave now in order for her not to break down in public. Or maybe she already did.
