Nnadia couldn't process everything that she'd heard. Abdullah had told her once, how playful Amina can be. But this right here didn't seem like a joke to her.
" You're joking right?" Nnadia asked Amina again. Her head felt like it was spinning from all that she'd witnessed.
" Does she look like a comedian to you?" Maria replied tauntingly.
Having lost her appetite, Nnadia shook her head as she left them standing there. Some hours later, when she was resting in the sitting room watching TV, Amina and her friend walked in and when their gaze landed on her, they both hissed loudly. They were heading upstairs with their shopping bags when Nnadia spoke, her anger flaring up.
" Wait. Amina and whatever you call yourself." Nnadia said gesturing towards Maria. They both stared at her menacingly.
" If you both think that you can bully me in my own house, then you're terribly mistaken."
They didn't reply but hissed louder and went on their business.
When Abdullah got back from work, he rushed up to the room to find Nnadia.
" My love. I missed you so much." He said hugging her tightly.
" Me too." She replied, hugging him back with the same ferocity.
" So, how did you spend the day?" He enquired.
" No, no Mr. That's not how this works. You go freshen up, come back and tell me about your day over dinner. Then I'll do the same." She replied being bossy. She didn't want to tell him anything that will enlighten him about what occurred between her and his guests.
" Okay." Abdullah replied with a smile.
When they went downstairs for dinner, Abdullah couldn't find Amina and her minion anywhere.
" Where is Amina?" He asked.
" I don't know." Nnadia replied truthfully.
" Okay let me call her so that we can have dinner together." He said, but Nnadia quickly stopped him.
" No. I'm sure they went out so maybe they already had dinner." She suggested.
" Okay." Abdullah replied.
They fed each other and had lots of fun like they used to. Abdullah took her upstairs to get some rest when he realized that the guest room was open.
" I think Amina is around. Go get some rest let me just say hi." He told her sweetly. Nnadia nodded her head and went on.
" Amina didn't you know that I was back. You spoiled brat." Abdullah playfully said, getting close to her room. As soon as he entered the room, he saw both Amina and Maria crying bitterly.
" Amina what's wrong?" He said rushing over to where she sat.
" Nothing." She replied with a croaky voice.
" Tell me now or else." Abdullah warned, with anger lacing in his voice. Ever since they were kids, his blood would boil whenever someone would make her cry.
" The first day of my holiday, I ran straight here with my friend just because i love you and want to support you in taking good care of your wife. But the way your wife embarrassed us today and the things she said is beyond me. I've never felt more ashamed in my entire life." Amina said in tears.
" What did she do?" Abdullah asked worriedly.
" I can't bear to say it, let Maria explain." Amina replied, and Maria took the opportunity to expertly fabricate all kinds of despicable lies against Nnadia.
