Derek's POV.
I shivered as I hugged myself to sustain warmth. The cold winds whipped at my body. I don't know how long I could put up with this. My lips were chapped from the brutal cold. I just want Alex to be in my arms. My legs feel numb from exhaustion and the cold. Being naked and drenched in blood was not a good idea to stay warm. I can't shift because I can't risk being caught or doing any more damage tonight. All I can remember are the faces of the people I killed. I killed 25 people in less than four hours.
"Okay I'm almost there." My breath turned into a vapor.
Brett said earlier that we were supposed to hang out at the pack house and spend a night. I'm two miles away and it's almost five am. No one was really on the road this morning. I kept walking in the shadows. I tried to stay hidden from whatever lurked in the dark. My feet were building callus from stepping on rocks and sticks.
An hour later, I finally got to the pack house. I knocked on the door hoping someone would answer. A few minutes later Alex opened the door. I could hear her heart thudding with excitement.
"Derek!" She squealed and squeezed my chest.
I then exhaled deeply almost like I could finally breathe again. I slowly wrapped my arms around her and held her tightly. "I miss you"
She was wearing matching baby blue sheep pjs.
"You are so bloody And naked!" She covered her mouth and laughed.
I didn't realize how much I missed her laugh until she did it. How sweet and soft her laugh was it made me grin even on my worst day. Brett came out of the kitchen rubbing his eyes.
"Dude! Put some clothes on!" Brett said covering his eyes.
I chuckled at him.
"Sorry, now I'm freezing!"
"Yeah of course you can!" Alex's smile was so big and so beautiful.
She opened the door wider so I could come in. I then noticed Ally snoring on the couch.
"Woah!" I said quickly, covering myself with a pillow. "I'm going upstairs to take a shower and wash all this blood off and then put on some clothes.
"Sounds like a plan!" Brett said, trying to avert his eyes.
"Do you mind if I join you?" Alex whispered in my ear.
Her voice sent chills down my spine.
I was grinning from ear to ear."Sure!"
I quickly walked through the kitchen and then upstairs and Alex followed.
I turned on the hot water and waited until it was warm. I stepped in as the water started to wash away all that blood and dirt that stained my skin. I then felt her warm hand on my back as she wrapped around me in a sweet embrace."I miss you so very much!" She said happily.
I turned around and gave her a soft kiss on her lips. It tasted of honey and strawberry.
"I miss you too!"
Images of the blood and the faces I killed almost made me gag.
"Hey, are you okay?" Alex asked with tenderness.
"Yeah I'm fine now that I'm with you." I smiled and pushed her hair back behind her ears.
"Are you sure? I mean after everything that happened it's okay to not be okay." She stroked a hand softly on my cheek.
I held it there and looked her in her eyes. Those big blue eyes of hers looked like jewels in the moonlight.
I don't think she really knows how much I love her. Our love runs deep and wide.
