The dinner is on the fifth floor with the ballroom. I walked into the elevator quickly and Derek grabbed my dress so it didn't get messed up. I felt the sweat pouring out of my hands.
"I'm nervous." I shook my sweaty hands trying to dry them.
He looked at me tenderly. "Why are you nervous? You look beautiful and don't worry I will protect you at all costs."
The elevator door opened into a huge hallway. At the end of the hall there were two double doors with guards.
"Remember to walk gracefully and be careful of how you speak and who you speak to. We both have to keep our guards up. This is a risky game we're playing tonight. All the elders are here, the council is here. Then on top of that your parents are the head alphas. Both of our parents are here. But don't be nervous they can smell fear. We can but you know." He laughed.
"Huh?" I said nervously.
"You'll be okay because I'm here and I will protect you I promise." He tried his best to make it better.
We finally approached the door. The guards opened the doors and we entered this giant room filled with tables.
"Now entering! Derek reed and alexia scott!" The guy at the door yelled.
"What?" I was super confused.
"Sh! Be graceful!" Derek barked.
I shut my mouth and just glanced around.
"Hey make sure you smile and nod!" Derek barked again.
I gritted my teeth and did a sheepish smile. I smiled and nodded towards the alpha table. There were two seats next two the opposing alphas. The two seats had our names written in calligraphy. Derek pulled out my chair and I sat down. I felt my blood start to boil and Derek was heating it.
"Hello everyone, welcome." The guy said with the microphone.
I looked up and made eye contact with the alpha girl. She smiled at me and she seemed very friendly. She had platinum silver hair and blue eyes. She wore a silver tight dress that pushed up her boobs. The giant chandelier reflected off her lip gloss.
I turned and looked at Derek who was giving the death glare to the male alpha.
"Excuse me? Can I have everyone's attention?" The room went to complete silence." Tonight's dinner is dedicated to my son Derek and his renouncing of alpha."
The crowd roared with excitement Derek smiled and waved.
"Is that your dad" I whispered in his ear.
"Yes."
"Derek came up here." His dad called him.
"Alex let's go."
Derek grabbed my hand and I just went along with it. I don't like large crowds.
"Wait Derek! What if they find out that I've been turned?" I whispered in his ear.
"Oh they won't know, trust me!" He said softly and then mumbled. "Hopefully"
"What is that supposed to mean?" I stammered.
Derek never answered my question. Sweat started to pour from my hands and the dress felt like it was getting tighter.
"Don't be nervous. why are you nervous?"
"How do you know that?" I sighed.
"I can't smell it on you like a tainted perfume."
"Thanks?" I said softly.
we finally got on stage and in front of the microphone.
"Good evening everyone! I'm sure all of you are aware that me and my mate Alexia daughter of lady Evelyn and sir Jonathan leaders of all six districts. we will both renounce as the alphas of the south eastern pack. We are both very excited to change the mutt issues at our borders and to lead this pack into greatness. Thank you!" He grinned from ear to ear and the crowd kept roaring.
The crowd ate up every word he said they clapped so long that I thought they'd never stop clapping.
"Wow! The crowd is eating up every word you said." I smiled."I'm so proud of you."
Derek made eye contact with the opposing alpha male and I lost him again. They stared at each other down and I saw Derek's eyes darken.
"Derek, Derek! Snap out of it!" I said,
Then he turned to me with the same look in his eyes. He grabbed my arm and dragged me out in the hall without making a scene.
"Derek what the hell is up! You're being too forceful!" I yanked my arm from his grip.
Tears whelped up in my eyes I finally felt real anger boiling inside me.
"Alex-I I'm sorry I literally have to. I really don't want to be this way but you don't understand." He pulled me into a hug.
I felt the presence of the wolf underneath my skin." You disrespected me this whole time and didn't even acknowledge me. Derek why are you treating me like I'm your pet!"
I started to breathe heavily. I was about to shift my claws and started to pierce my nail beds.
"Woah Alex calm down!"
"Calm down! You want me to calm down!" I raised my claws up towards his face, almost taking a swing.
"That's it! I can't tolerate this behavior! Come with me!"
Derek's eyes turned a dark red and he grabbed my elbow and took me to the elevator.
"Let go of me!" I yelled.
He shoved me into the elevator wall and pinned me there. Derek stared me down with his red eyes in the reflection I could see my purple blue-ish eyes radiating. Derek held my arms as if he was examining my face.
"You wait until I get you to the room!" He snarled, exposing his fangs.
Chills were sent down my spine. I could hardly breathe. My heart was beating out of my chest. The anger that lurked inside still rages. I was unsure why he was being like this and why it sort of calmed me down. The elevator pinged on our floor and Derek didn't even touch me but he was still half way through the shift. Derek's jawline swiftly turned and waited for me to go into my room. He locked the door behind him and approached forward with nothing but anger in his eyes. He sat down in the corner and stared me down as I sat on the bed. He watched my every move like he was stalking me. Derek put his fists to his mouth and leaned forward. This wasn't like him; he was different and I didn't know if it was for the good or the bad. He took in a breath and sighed it out then he sat up straight. Almost like he was fighting something internally and it was pouring out. Derek got out of the chair and slowly walked forward. That wasn't Derek and I wasn't sure who it was.
