Derek's Pov

I drove to the pack house to come up with a plan and rest before we made the exchange. The truck was too silent for my comfort. I couldn't think straight. My emotions clouded my brain and they were getting louder and louder. How could you? How could you treat your mate like this? This is all your fault! You have no one to blame but yourself! I sighed trying to calm down. I didn't need all of this right now. Okay it's all going to be okay! Bury all of it and it will just all go away! Calm down! Why can't I calm down? We finally got to our pack house and I noticed the front door hadn't been replaced and Brett's truck was gone. I got out of the truck and walked around to open Alex's door and she opened it before I could. She then brushed by me and I felt every ounce of me drain out. I looked at the ground and tried to push the hurt down even further. My eyes became milky. I almost shed a tear but before I could Noah called to me.

"Hey Derek you need to come look at this!" Noah called from inside.

By the look on his face it must have not been good. I slowly walked towards the wooden steps barely missing the broken step where Alex fell. I walked in the Door and stepped on broken glass. Then I noticed what they were looking at. It was a huge puddle of blood that had long been dry. It was on the hardwood floor in the middle of the living room.

"Derek is this Brett's blood? We know it's human but we don't know Brett's scent." Ally looked puzzled as she examined the blood.

"This is a lot of blood especially for a human." Alex said softly.

Alex was nervous her heart was racing so fast then she looked up at me. I noticed her heart slowed and then she sighed and looked back at the blood.

"Let me see." I walked over towards the direction of the blood and squatted down.

I rubbed my fingers in it and held it to my nose and took a breath. I traced the scent all the way to the door frame and then it stopped. It was definitely Brett's blood and for him to bleed this much blood someone must have stabbed him or cut him. By the angle of the blood and how it dropped it was like a sword or a spear. Something long and sharp and it cut deep.

"Well?" Ally asked.

"It's definitely Brett's blood and he was stabbed or cut. It had to be a sharp object of some sort; it couldn't have been a knife unless it was a machete." I rubbed my chin.

My blood started to boil. I could feel it burning and running through my veins. I felt the anger rising up from my toes and up to my chest. I grimace to the thought of them hurting my best friend.

"That's it! I'm going to kill every last hunter I get my hands on! I will save all my anger for the main leader and I will skin her ass alive! I will make her feel every drop of wrath and hate I have for her! She will learn not to mess with me or my pack!" I gritted my teeth.

All I could feel is the rage that burned in my heart. I want to get my bestfriend back and fix the problems between me and Alex. I make my threats promises and I vow on it I will kill her and it will be slow and painful. She will pay for her crimes and that punishment will only be death. when you hurt a werewolf's pack or mate the werewolf can take it upon themselves to punish the person who is held responsible. The one who holds Brett is hurting him and she hurt my mate and I choose death and I will be there when she gasps her last horrific breath.

"We stand behind you!" Ally and Noah nodded their heads in agreement.

Alex stood there not knowing what to do or what to say. I looked at her waiting for a response then she nodded her head. Alex hasn't really spoken to me. I know we got in a fight that was mainly my fault and I think we broke up but I'm not sure what we are.
