Saturday evening came quicker than Oli expected and before he knew it he was sat in the car with his family, on the way to the Franceschi's house. Of course as soon as Oli's mum heard about their invitation to a dinner party, she practically forced everyone to go. Even Tom was going, much to him annoyance.Tom didn't really like Elissa for some reason, he never had. The first time she came over to their house, Tom had thrown a strop and stuck his tongue out at her, which was basically his 9 year old way of insulting her.
Now that he was older he just glared at her every time she came round and wined every time we went around to theirs. Oli didn't really understand his problem, not that he really understood his younger brother at all. They were like polar opposites personality wise, and yet they still managed to get on relatively well.
They got to the Franceschi's house and parked around the corner due to the drive being already full of cars. When they got inside, the house was already full of adults talking and laughing about adult stuff.
"So glad you could make it, Carol." Elissa's mum greeted his when they walked through the door. Their parents did the normal overly long adult greeting that they did every time they saw each other and then the entire family was lead into the living room.
In a blink of an eye, Oli was left alone in the middle of the living room with no idea what to do. His parents had disappeared somewhere probably to talk to some other adults and his brother had fucked off like usual. Oli scanned the room in search of Elissa but couldn't find her, he did spot her brother though.
Josh was wearing a smart polo shirt with blue jeans, very different from the black skinny jeans and leather jackets he usually wore. Oli walked over to him, desperate to not be alone in a room full of strangers anymore.
"Hey, didn't know you were coming." Josh said cheerfully.
"Yeah our parents are friends. Do you know where Elissa is?" Oli said.
"I think she's still getting dressed. You can stay with me until she comes down." He shrugged.
"Ummm okay." Oli agreed. It's not like he had anywhere better to be. He should have know Elissa would still be getting ready, she was always late to stuff like this.
Oli stood there with Josh kind of awkward whilst Josh talked to some relatives that Oli didn't know. He was snapped out of his thoughts when Josh patted him on the shoulder.
"This is Oli." Josh introduced him to the old women in from of them. Oli smiled back politely and nodded in acknowledgment.
"Ooh aren't you a nice looking young lad." The women said making Oli blush and look down at his shoes. "Is this your boyfriend Joshua?"
Oli's blush deepened and he began to play with his sweater paws to avoid looking up.
"No, grandma, he's one of Elissa's friends." Josh sighed, he sounded kind of sad but Oli wasn't sure why he would be.
"Oh, that's nice." His grandma said politely, sending the three of them into an awkward silence that was interrupted by a high pitched voice.
"Oli!" Elissa cried out loudly as she slung her arms around Oliver's neck and pulled him away from Josh and his grandma. Oli was thankful that he wasn't stuck in that awkward conversation anymore.
"Thank god you are here, I thought I was going to be stuck with Josh and your grandma all night." He breathed out in relief, making Elissa laugh.
"Let me guess, she assumed you and Josh were dating?" She laughed. Oli's eyes shot open.
"Yes! How did you know that?" He asked in shock.
"Ever since Josh came out as bi, she's been asking if every boy that Josh even stands in a 50 meter radius of is his boyfriend. It's pretty funny actually." She laughed.
"Oh." Oli shrugged.
"Let's go up to my bedroom to avoid speaking to anyone." She suggested and began to walk towards the stairs. Oli sighed in relief at that, he didn't really want to talk to anyone at this dinner party except for Elissa anyways.
Just before he could enter her bedroom, a hand gripped his wrist and pulled him back softly. He was confused for a second until the person spoke.
"Remember what I said the other day, if you want to sleep with me tonight you can. My bedroom is always open for you." The person whispered in his ear, a person he recognised to be Josh.
"If I didn't know better Joshua, I would say you were flirting with me right now." Oli stated.
"I'm just reminding you that you have the option." Josh shrugged. Oli laughed.
"If you want me to even step foot in your room, you're going to have to try harder than that." He clicked his tongue before walking past Josh and into Elissa's room, completely ignoring the glare that the blue eyes boy was giving him.
