On and off the track {Lando Norris}

Scarlett POV

I had overtaken Lando on the last lap so I was now in P5, I pulled up to our designated stop point in order

I got out of my car and took off my balaclava and helmet, trying to get my breathing back to normal. I felt my heart rate pick up as my mind flooded with thoughts of Anthoine

I looked around me but couldn't see Lando's car anywhere, I stood on top of my car but I still couldn't see it, my legs felt like jelly as I stepped down and leaned onto the side of my car

"Scarlett!" I heard someone call "Scarlett!" They gripped my shoulders and lifted my head up, it was Romain "Ça va?"

"I can't- I can't" I shook my head

"Viens" He whispered and wrapped an arm around my shoulders as he steered me inside away from the cameras and noise. I didn't know where we were going just that it slowly got quieter "Hey" He turned me to face him "What's going on?"

"Non" I shook my head violently and choked on my breathe "I can't- my throat's closing"

"Lettie!" I heard someone else call and their footsteps got closer. They wrapped me in a hug and I recognised George's scent "Scar you need to breathe"

"No- No- no air"

"Just focus on my voice"

"What's going on?" I realised Alex had appeared to

"She's having a panic attack" Romain answered, I pushed George back but he held my shoulders

"Sto- stop" I choked

"Scarlett-"

"Non!" I exclaimed "La-Lando, I d-d-don't know- and-and Antho-Anthoine"

"Scarlett" Roman grabbed my hand "Stop, stop thinking like that"

"I- c-can't-" I choked

"Darling!" I heard footsteps and then a warm body engulfed me in a hug. I knew it was Lando but I could hardly breathe so I kept trying to push his shoulders "Scar, scarlett" He held my face between his hands, I couldn't understand a word he said but as I looked into his eyes I felt my breathing slow down, I sighed and rested my head on his chest

"A-after Anthoine, I-I couldn't se-see you and I th-t-thought you were-"

"Hey, I got you" Lando kissed my forehead "I'm not leaving you"

"Promise?"

"Always"

Third Person POV

It was the post-race conference and everyone was there except Lando and Scarlett

"Hi" James Key - the McLaren technical chief - came in after a couple of minutes "We just want to say that Lando and Scarlett won't be joining today because Scarlett has had a panic attack and Lando wants to stay and look after her"

Many people forget that what we do risks our lives. Each time we get into the car our lives are at risk, and most of us survive to see the reward. However losing Anthoine has reminded us all that we can lose everything in the blink of an eye; family, friends, loved ones, dreams. It can all go. Being a Motorsport driver is the scariest thing in the world but I'm beyond grateful to have people like Lando, Alex and George here for me whenever I step out of the car. I don't know what I would do without them and I just wish Anthoine could be here with us now🖤 Je vous aimerais toujours
