Chapter 7: Growing Up
Dil's P.O.V:
Everyday at school, I see the girl from the park, Erica. And she isn't in all of my classes. My peers see me sometimes staring at her and loosing focus due to that. They know whats up. My friends Annabeth and Travis saw me and started teasing me for it. Making lame jokes as usual but this time, they started to worry.
"Dylan, I don't think Erica is the girl for you" said Travis. "Seems like bad news".
"There is nothing wrong with her... she may be the one" I said.
"But she sounds like bad news" said Annabeth. "Trust me, everyone in Willow Creek knows each other!"
"Let me try asking her out then... see if she really is that bad" I said.
I then see Erica leaving the classroom, wearing a really cute outfit, my friends wished me luck and I went for it. I went to Erica, being my usual self... I walked up to her. Gave her a call and a wave and she saw me.
"Hi..." I said.
"Oh hey" said Erica. "Dylan... I didn't know you study here".
"Anyways... Do you want to come over to my place" I said. "You know... just to hang out. Me and my parents made this hamburger cake and it will be good if you try some".
"Hamburger cake hey? Hanging out?" she said. "Ok... See you at your place this Saturday, 2pm?".
"Cool" I said.
Erica left and I ran to my friends, telling them it was a success! I have a date this Saturday and hopefully, nothing bad will happen!
Dan's P.O.V:
"WHAT? A DATE?" I said in shock.
Dil just came home and told me and Phil that he will be having someone over this weekend. This was the second time he had a friend over and since its been a REALLY long time since his last guest, this felt new to me.
"That's great!" Phil said. "What's her name?"
"Erica Pendleton... The girl from the park" Dil said.
"Wait! Isn't she the girl that you told us that you met in the park 2 weeks ago" Phil asked.
"Yeah..." Dil said. "Not its wrong or anything. I just asked her and she said yes!".
Me and Phil had that shock look on our faces as we had no idea how to respond to that. Its news... and it's a huge shock for the both of us. But at the same time, we want Dil to be happy. And we saw him playing chess with that girl so this sounds like a good idea.
"Sure, she can come over" I said.
"Oh... and can you both be upstairs when this happens. But don't embarrass me at the same time" said Dil. "Especially... don't do it".
Phil and I knew what Dil meant. He doesn't want to lose a friend but at the same time, he doesn't the same incident from 4 years ago to happen all over again. We agreed and Dil left the living room and went to his bedroom. Phil closed the door and became upset. I came to him and gave him a hug.
"Philip, what's wrong" I asked.
"He's growing up!" he said. "Think about it! He's having a friend over and in two years time..."
Phil started to cry and I wiped of the tears of his face. I gave him a hug as Phil cries his heart off.
"I know but it's life Phil. This was bound to happen" I said. "Just calm down".
"But Dan, think about it! When was the last time he calls us 'Dad'?" Phil asked. "He's been calling us Dan and Phil since the age of 12!".
"Phil... we just adopted him, treated him as our son, you being there more for him while I take part when I have to defend him. We are good parents and you should never forget that!" I said.
3 YEARS AGO:
Phil's P.O.V:
It was the middle of the 8th grade for Dil and Dan had a day off so me and him were just making out on the living room sofa. As I kissed his lips and looked through those heart eyes, the phone rang. Dan answered it and it was the school.
"Hello?" he said.
I couldn't hear what was going on but I can tell something bad happened. Dan's expression was filled with denial and shock. It had a tone of disbelief but it happened. When the call ended, we had to leave and go to the school office. There we saw Dil and another boy in the room, as well as the principal, the other kid's mum and the teacher.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Your son has been caught fighting with Andrew" said the teacher.
"It's not my fault! He started it!" Dil yelled.
"My son would do no such thing!" said Andrew's mum.
"Dil... what happened?" asked the Principal.
"QUIT CALLING ME DIL!" Dil yelled. "And to tell the truth, he started it... Calling me a 'dildo'! I have no idea what that even is!".
Andrew had a small smile and all of us saw it. The principal punished the boy but the mother kept on defending him. We were then allowed to take Dil home and Dil was upset, sitting on the front seat.
"Dil, why did you have to fight the boy?" I asked.
"Shut up Phil!" Dil said.
Me and Dan had our eyes open in horror. His response was... indescribable and a shock.
"Thats not how you respond to your father!" Dan said.
"Your not my real parents anyway!" Dil said. "I have the right! Why did you have to name me after a Sim from... God knows how long when!".
Dan and I took a deep breath as we can tell Dil is just having a bad day.
"Dil... just don't fight other people! Its not right and you can eventually hurt someone" I said.
"Fine" Dil said.
And from the following days, Dil's school life just got worse. The nickname 'Dildo' just spread like wildfire and nobody wants to get close to him or even socialize with him. And whenever he gets home, he just isolates himself in his bedroom...
