Chapter 13: Preston's Secret

Dil's P.O.V:

Back to school and just hanging with Travis and Annabeth as we are trying to stay way from Erica. School is going great and I sometimes hang out with Summer, Misty, Courtney and Maria. Studies are harder but it's the final year before we take the final exam. At home, Dan and Phil ended my punishment early... but I need to share my feelings to them.

Typical parents...

But my time with Summer, we try to stay friends and we try to get to know each other. But I really want to get to know her more. I asked a few of my friends what I should do and they suggest a date. But I don't think that's a good idea.

Dan's P.O.V:

Me and Phil have been noticing Dil trying to mix drinks during the weekend and we invited Preston if a bar is allowed to be built in the house. Me and Preston met a couple times since I'm a lawyer in London and he's part of the town council so I guess it was a good idea to socialise with him.

And he brought our son home safely so that's a good idea.

"So Mr Chappa, is it a good idea?" I asked.

"Yes, I don't see the harm" Preston said. "You may need to rearrange the furniture though since you can't extend the house"

"So Preston, how long have you lived here in Willow Creek?" Phil asked.

"I've lived here when I was born" Preston said. "I've seen London though but Willow Creek is much peaceful and it relieves me from my stresses from work".

"So, do you have a family? Kids?" I asked.

"I have an ex wife... Due to an affair. I have a step daughter though. And I have another child but God only knows where that child is" Preston said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

Preston took a deep breath and gave a sad look. He then stared at us and took another deep breath. Me and Phil were confused but we can tell this is serious.

"Can you keep a secret?" Preston asked.

Preston gathered us closer and we are shocked. His secret about that child, it was unbelievable. We tried to deny it but it's the truth. He told us a brief image and description about it and Phil broke into tears.

"This can't be" Phil cried. "That's impossible! I see no connection!"

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"I'm serious. But the child can't know about it" Preston said. "The child can't figure out as its going to be difficult for me to ex...".

Dil arrived home at that point and he was giving a strange look at us, especially to Preston. Me and Phil started to worry a bit but we still have to play it cool.

"Hi Dylan" Phil said.

"Hi" Dil said. "Hello Mr Chappa".

Dil wasn't enthusiastic to Preston but it's understandable since it's odd for Dil to get along with and adult. Preston stood up and left. When Preston left the living room, Dil just came out of his bedroom. Preston rubbed Dil's hair like he was just a child and gave a sweet comment to him.

"You have great parents kiddo" Preston said. "They sure have taken you well".

Preston left and Dil was just standing there, confused.

"What just happened?" Dil asked.

"Preston is just being friendly... That's all" Phil said. "After all, he is a councilman of Willow Creek".

"Anyways... can I have a party here with a few of my friends" Dil asked. "I want to impress some girl and I think it's a good i-".

"Sure" I said. "But not this weekend as we are installing a bar here. I heard you like to try Mixology so we are doing this for you".

"Great!" Dil said. "So around 2 weeks?"

"Probably" Phil said.

Phil's P.O.V:

Dil returned to his room, probably to do his homework. But what Preston said to us and the way he acted towards Dil, it has hit me hard. Me and Dan needs to be good parents to Dil as long as possible. But at the same time, Dil has the right to know the truth.

"Dil must know" I said to Dan at our bed in our bedroom.

"I know but imagine the cost" Dan said. "How will he take it?".

"Take what? That Preston Chappa is his father?! We came here just to escape Dil from Bullying and if he figures this out, it will cause change on how he view this place" I said.

Yes, Preston told us. He is Dil's father. His birth father and he doesn't want Dil to figure out as not only because it will be hard for him to make up lost time but I don't want to disconnect with Dil again. Dil was the child me and Dan cherished and I don't want to lose touch again.

Dil's P.O.V:

Preston is weird. Very weird but then again... He is councilman. However... he did acted odd and so did my parents. They are hiding something from me and I need to find out. Just need to wait in some time and collect more evidence then I can start investigating.

But for now, I have a party to plan.
