Cait's POV.

Harry wasn't back in the morning, or when I was getting ready.

Me: if you care, I'm going out. don't know when I'll be back, try not to worry too much

I locked my phone and headed out.

Me: 10 minutes away🏃x

Matty: cool, I'm already here xx

I felt bad knowing I was ten minutes late, I'd actually wasted time at home thinking about whether I should go, whether it was a good idea for me to do this at all.

I knew it wasn't, but maybe Harry would get a taste of his own medicine, maybe I'm immature, but maybe I'm more annoyed than anything.

"So sorry I'm late,"

Matty waved it off as nothing sliding over some water.

"Thanks," I take a few mouthfuls thirsty from the quick walk I'd just taken.

"So, how have you been?" He asks after we order lunch.

"Really good actually," I smile. "Yourself?"

"Good, on a break now. Touring Europe soon."

"That'll be nice."

"How's harry? I read that you two are together now.."

I nod, "Harry's Harry, we're not.. we're not on speaking terms at the moment."

"Uh oh, what's happened?"

I sigh, "It's pathetic,"

Matty furrows his eyebrows. "Can't be if it's upsetting you,"

I swallow. "Since being here he just wants to be with his friends, last night we had a fight - he stormed out and hasn't come back."

"Do you know where he went?"

I shake my head.

"Do you.. do you think he went to a girls house?" I look up almost surprised by his question.

Harry doing that to me never crossed my mind I mean, I know he wouldn't.

"He wouldn't do that to me, it's just another argument we'll get over."

"How many can you get over?"

I bow my head. "I cooked us a meal, I even wore heels," I laugh, it wasn't a happy laugh, it was one of sadness. "He didn't arrive until it was cold and I was throwing it away."

"Oh Cait,"

I shrugged "It's fine, like I said; we'll get over it."

"He's lucky to have you, you're sweet, beautiful and just perfect. I hope he sees that."

I take some fries. "Me too,"

Matty had his driver drop me off home, I noticed lights on and Harry's car in the driveway. I hugged Matty before getting out walking up to the door and unlocking it.

Harry was in the kitchen, he was playing music as he cooked. I walked in silent, placing my bag on the counter.

"Hi," I say.

"Hi," He replies cutting up some mushrooms. "Where have you been?"

"Out,"

He puts the mushrooms in a pan before looking at me. "I gathered that, with who? where?"

I frown crossing my arms, "I'm sorry, didn't know you'd taken the second job of becoming a police detector," I joke.

"Well?"

I roll my eyes. "I met up with Matty, we had lunch and a stroll."

His fists clenched against the kitchen top. "Healy?"

"Yes?"

"You want to get back at me so you go out with the one guy you know likes you, give him a blowy under the table? Or did you go back to his place? Was he as good as you hoped?" He laughs, it wasn't cheery, it was spiteful.

He wanted to hurt me.

"It was lunch, not a date." I say softly, my sass completely diminished at his comment.

"Well, hope the second date goes well," He smirks.

I shake my head before slowly turning around. I couldn't do this, I couldn't have this coldness, this spiteful tension.

I slowly made my way upstairs looking around our room. This was supposed to be our time, time we would cherish so in weeks to come when we weren't together we'd be able to think about this.

But instead I'll remember all that went wrong, his words that cut me deep.

I slowly take out my phone, deleting Matty's number before opening the British Airways app and finding flights.

LAX > LHR(London Heathrow)

18:05 dep > 05:10 arr

Within seconds I booked a single first class ticket. With tears in my eyes, I roll out my suitcase slowly packing everything away, by the time I was finished I had an hour and a half to get to the airport.

I take my things downstairs looking around for Harry only to find a note.

Gone to the gym, back whenever

H

I turned the note over, taking the pen he'd used.

Gone to the airport, flights in an hour. Can't try anymore

C

With that, I rolled my suitcase out the door and waited for the taxi I called. It was weird that after everything, this really felt like goodbye.
