Today was the first day of school for my son Jake. He was just going into pre-school. I wasn't quite ready for him to leave the house just yet, but it was only pre-school.

Crossing the street with Jake's small hand tangled with mine, he looks up at me.

"Daddy, what's pwe-school?"

He asked me in such a sweet voice that no one could turn away,

"Well son, IT's a place where you meet other kids to learn and play." Trying to give him a definition easy for him to understand. Since this is his first time starting school ever, I don't know how Jake will handle being around other kids.

We meet the school door when I bend down to Jake's height.

"Alright son, this is where I leave you now. I'll come back in a little while to pick you up okay?"

"Okay." He says and nods his head.

"Okay squirt, off you go." I let go of his hand as I watch him disappear into the school doors. Once a tear fell from my eyes,

An airplane hit me.

The End.
