Chapter 3: The Kidnapper's Motive

I didn't expect that Reign can solve that math problem that so easily and connect it in our search for Chloe. Kahit kasi matalino siya, hindi niya iyon ginagamit sa pagsagot sa mga tanong sa klase. Palagi naman siya nagbabasa ng mga educational books kaya no wonder kung bakit matalino siya. There's just a one question that remains: Why won't she show it?

I'm sure there's a reason behind it because every secret has a reason. And the reason is what I am searching right now.

Baka itanong ko sa kaniya iyon one of these days. Pero baka kasi hindi niya sabihin sa akin o hindi niya talaga sabihin sa akin, alam mo naman ang babaeng iyon. Kahit na araw-araw ko siguro siyang makasama, siguro hindi pa rin niya ako maconsider na kaibigan niya ako. Tsk. But I will still do anything just for her and me to be friends.

Pagkauwi namin kahapon nagpahinga na silang dalawa. Ako naman, pumunta ako sa police station para tanungin kung ano ang motibo niya at tinarget niya si Reign. Hindi naman daw kasi iyon dahil sa pera na makukuha niya kay Chloe. Nadamay lang daw talaga si Chloe dahil ang puntirya niya daw ay si Reign talaga. Nang tinanong ko siya tungkol sa kung ano ang motibo niya, sinabi lang niya na dahil iyon sa mga sinabi ni Reign sa kaniya.

Naglalakad ako ngayon sa hallway at pupunta sa library para kulitin siya ulit and at the same time, tanungin na rin about sa mga katanungang iniisip ko kanina. She's so cute every time she is irritated and every time she smiles. Bagay din sa kaniya na nakalugay ang buhok dahil nun ko lang siya nakita na nakalugay. If she is already beautiful when she let her hair down, what if she have no glasses?

Pagkapasok ko sa library, nakita ko siya sa favorite place niya kaya napangiti ulit ako.

Ewan ko ba kung anong meron sa kaniya pero tuwing nakikita ko siya automatic na sa labi ko na ngumiti.

I sat beside her but she just rolled her eyes and turned her attention in the book.

“How are you?” I said. She just gave me a thumbs up.

“Please speak even a little please” I look at her with a puppy eyes. She looks at me and avoiding herself to giggle.

She's so cute. Bat may nakakatuwa ba sa akin.

“Bakit?”

“Nothing” sabi niya habang iniiwasan niya pa ring tumawa.

“Nothing? But why are you giggling?” I asked still with a smile in my face.

Humarap na siya sa akin at di na niya pinigilan ang sarili niyang ngumiti. “Thank you”

She then returned her gaze in the book.

Did I heard it right? And did she just smiled at me? Bigla tuloy akong napabulong ng yes dahil at least napangiti ko siya. But why is she thanking me?

“Dahil sa pagtulong mo sa amin kagabi. Kung wala ka doon baka pareho na kaming patay ngayon.” she said while not looking at me.

Wait. Did she just read my m—oh nevermind. I'm so obvious. But why on earth is that I can't deduce base on her expression. She's so hard to read.

“No problem. It's my duty to keep you both safe especially you.” I answered. “Wanna eat? My treat.”

“Sure...” then she closed her book.
