A man of average height stood in front of the mirror, fixing his tie and trying to convince himself that he was ready to take on the day; not that it mattered, this was going to be one rough day.
The man's work was in a field of arguments and tough decisions. Trying to make deals with fools and idiots alike. Today just happened to be the day where he had to convince a major fool, a fool to fall for what his company desires.
A salesman. That's what he was. Forever persuading random companies to follow in his own company's path, to give them the money that his business needs to succeed. It honestly sucked and made the man feel guilty every time he persuaded one, only for his own paycheck.
The customer was none other than a millionaire, someone who would profit their company financially, and also in popularity. Honestly, that was the last thing the man wanted. He'd rather blow this whole thing then to let his idiotic company slowly control the world.
Being a salesman, you learn the secrets behind your company's walls. Secrets that would've probably been better to stay out of the light. Secrets that could destroy the company if it ever got out, then destroying the person who leaked that information. It was a whole underground process that the face never shows, making it seem all dandy and sweet.
But the man knew of these secrets. He had discovered them one by one, whether he wanted to or not. He was practically trapped at his company, and if they ever caught him not playing along, they'd do something unthinkable and he would definitely lose his job.
The man went by the name of Lee Jeno. Lee Jeno, the top salesman, someone who could persuade even the hardest to sway customers. The man who was always put up for the job, and got paid a hefty price at that.
It was one of Jeno's many burdens. Playing along with a company that was practically controlling the public's eyes, and he hated it. He hated being the one that made sales final, that sealed the deal and once again trapped more of the public.
He felt so selfish, doing this merely so that he could survive the life he always wanted. So that his paycheck always got better with each sale he made, making it as easy as breathing just to get green into his palms.
But what was that green worth? Was it worth the huge house he lived in? Was it worth the fancy car he had parked in his double-door garage? Was it all worth it, even when he has no one in his life?
The more he pondered this, the more his mind said no. Jeno was lonely, to say the least. Money had become his best friend, him finding joy by splurging all his earnings on objects of no importance, or going out to treat himself to a fancy dinner. But that didn't fill the hole he contained in his heart, the hole that could only be filled by happiness, not money.
