We were still in the lab waiting for the analysis to finish and I was stuck watching it until it was done. Barry looked at Caitlyn, "Can I ask you something that you don't have to answer?". I rolled my eyes, "That's not the best way to start out", I muttered but I was ignored. Caitlyn looked at him, "My least favorite kind of question. Shoot", she says letting him ask. He puts down the DNA molecule toy he was playing with and looked at her seriously, "Ronnie. What was he like?". I looked at Caitlyn sadly, she told me all about him when I was at STAR labs while Barry was still in his coma.

She sighed, "We met when we were working on the Particle Accelerator. He was the structural engineer. He liked to joke that he was basically a very high priced plumber", she laughed a little when she said that which made me and Barry smile, "We were very different. You may have noticed I can be a bit...", she tried to think of the right word. "Defensive", I joked and she playfully rolled her eyes, "I would've said guarded. Ronnie knew how to make me laugh. He used to say we were like fire and ice", she started getting emotional, "He wasn't supposed to be there that night. He was just there for me. If he hadn't..", she started but was cut off by the printer with the analysis.

Barry and I walked over to her to read it, "It said there was no residue of gas in the tissue. Poisonous or otherwise". I looked at her confused, "How is that possible?", I asked. Barry shook his head, "It must have evaporated. We need to get a fresh sample". I looked at the paper, "Wait that looks like two different DNA strands in the tissue", Caitlyn looked at me surprised and I shrugged, "I payed attention sometime in science class", I defended.

Barry looked at the results confused, "How did someone else's DNA get inside the victim's lungs?", we all looked at each other confused but then I got an idea, "Wait! Maybe he doesn't control gas, what if he is the gas?", they looked at me with wide eyes realizing I might be right. I don't know why they were so surprised though.

Barry raced to his computer to look through criminal databases, "There's no match". I shake my head, "That's not possible". Barry had his police scanner on, "All available units. We have a report of a toxic gas attack in the Central City shopping mall". We all looked at each other and then Barry got up to get his suit. Caitlyn and I chased after him, "Barry, Don't. We don't know enough about what we're facing yet", he wasn't listening. I walked in front of him, "It's not safe!", I yelled to him. He looked at me, "Delaney, I have to go", we stared at each other for a few seconds before he sped out of there.

Caitlyn and I looked at each other then ran down to her car to get to STAR labs. When we got there we saw Barry choking and gasping for air. Caitlyn and I ran to him, "Oh god Bare", I cried grabbing his hand while Caitlyn ran to help Cisco. They were talking about extracting the gas from him as a sample and Caitlyn looked at him, "I can't give you any anesthetic. Your metabolism will burn right through it", she warned him. He looked at her, "I heal quick, remember?", he wheezed out.

She took a syringe and looked at him, "This is going to hurt a lot", I looked at my best friend. "I'm right here Bare", I whispered and he squeezed my hand before Caitlyn stabbed the syringe into his chest. As soon as the needle went in, he gasped for air then passed out. I looked at my friends crying, "Please tell me you got it out! Please tell me he'll be okay!", Dr. Wells nodded. "He'll be fine Ms. West. He just needs to rest".

I nodded and wiped my tears and walked to the other room to be alone.

I was sitting by myself in the room that Barry normally trains in when I heard the door open. I didn't even turn around as I felt the person sit next to me. "Are you ok?", Barry asked which made me laugh through the tears. "You almost died and you're asking me if I'm ok?", I said sarcastically, "Why did you have to do that? I told you it wasn't safe. What if you died? I can't lose anyone else", I rambled not looking at him. He grabbed my hand, "Hey! I didn't! I'm sorry that I scared you today, and well everyday. If I'm being honest, it felt like that one time I had a cigarette", he joked. I have to admit it made me laugh a little, "Oh yes Barry Allen's rebel phase of one cigarette", I said sarcastically.
