Out of Time

Barry put Thawne in the pipeline and then next morning he went down to question him. He didn't want me going down there because he knew that I'd kill him. We need him alive...for now. Barry came back up and told us what Thawne offered him. 

"The rare opportunity to go back in time and right a wrong and save your mother's life...quite the paradox Harrison has presented you with, Mr. Allen", Stein said looking at Barry. Caitlyn looked at him, "The chance to be with someone you love? Seems pretty cut and dry to me", she said holding Ronnie's hand. Stein nodded, "At first blush, Dr. Snow, it would appear so, but this gift has unparalleled risk. Barry, the night your mother died, the night you saved yourself from being killed, that event altered the timeline you were already on and changed the course of history", he explained. 

Cisco looked at them, "So what you're saying is we're living in a parallel universe?", he asked. Barry nodded, "Just like when I time travelled before", he said. Dad looked at Stein, "But he only changed one day that time", he said. Stein nodded ,"Exactly. Now imagine 15 years of compounded experiences. One different decision no matter how big or small, impacts everything that follows. Moments upon moments, choices upon choices. New relationships, nothing would be as it is today, and you'd never know the difference because you'd never remember any of it", he explained to Barry. 

Barry looked at all of us, "So if I go back to save my mom, my dad doesn't go to prison. I never live with Joe, Iris, and Delaney", I looked up and saw him staring at me, our eyes meeting. Cisco think for a second, "You might never meet me, or Caitlyn, or Ronnie", he says sadly. Stein looks at Barry, "Truth is, there's no real way of knowing what your life will be", he said. 

Barry looked at Dad, "There's no choice here, Barry. You have to do this. You gotta change the past", Dad tells him grabbing his jacket and walking out. He looks at me for anything, "Barry, I want to be selfish and tell you to stay. But I know that if I was in your position, I would do anything to go back and convince my birth father to not give me up. Do it, Barry. Save your mom", I said, my words cutting me to my very core. All the anger I felt, disappeared when I thought I wouldn't see him again.

He looks at me, "Are you sure?", he asks me walking closer to me. I sigh and look down, "Yes. You deserve to have your family back", I said resting my hand on his cheek. I puts his hand over top of mine, "But I'd never come to live with you, and Joe, and Iris. Are you okay with that?", he asks me. I look into his eyes and force a smile, "We'll come back to each other. I know we will", I whisper. He nods and walks out to go find my dad.
