"Then die."
A high pitched yelp escapes my lips as I hurriedly duck away from a flash of silver. Hearing it clang against the metal bars seconds after and I jump away from Thorin, the blade ghosting my arm as he brings it down again.
"Thorin!" I cry out in shock, panic now settling in and it causes my foot to nearly trip over some debris.
Thorin groans heavily as the weapon vibrates against the ground and for a moment we're both frozen, as if the situation is barely becoming visible. Labored breaths escape my lips while deep ones release from his nose and I blink rapidly, hoping that this is just some dream.
Yeah. You've got to be dreaming, Arina. You're still in that cell. This isn't him.
I repeat to myself and gulp dryly, not once taking my eyes off my dwarf or his threatening blade. Even if this is some twisted mind trick, I'm not taking any chances with getting pierced. Nightmare or not.
"Please-"
I dart away the moment his hand twitches at the sound of my voice and feel a rush of air pass by my arm, which is then followed by another sharp sound. The resonance causes me to flinch slightly and I barely manage to dodge a strike for the stomach.
Wake up, Arina!
My mind screams desperately as I turn around to face Thorin, automatically moving into a better stance for evading.
Wake up!
I gulp as I crouch down slightly, attempting to stay focused on my surroundings but I'm too busy staring at his current state. The way his broad chest falls as he breathes heavily, almost in pain, while his body is slouched, though in concentration and the lifeless glare sends fear surging within me.
Aruba!
I jump to the right as Thorin lunges forward with an angered cry but it gives me a brief moment to move past him to safety.
"Stop it, Thorin!" I try again, heart doing all kinds of flips which is making oxygen harder to consume. "It's me!"
His golden armor glistens as he spins around, a bit sloppy thanks to the weight but I narrowly manage to lean away. The blade close to grazing my neck and I'd rather not have anymore accessories placed there.
"I'm not going to fight you, Thorin!" I breathe out quickly and jump back at another threatening blow, each one becoming closer than the last.
"You will not betray me again." Thorin speaks with a tone of mockery, his head cast down to the side and he whimpers a bit to add onto the deception.
My mind clearly knows it's an act but my heart can't help but tighten at the sound of his cries, wanting nothing more than to ease his pain.
The guard I had unknowingly falls and my shoulders drop in concern before I take a small step forward, "Thorin?"
Said man suddenly roars out, catching me by surprise but by the time my mind retakes the reigns, a hard force is unexpectedly sending my body back.
All the oxygen instantly crawls out of my lungs and in a matter of seconds, something else painfully stops my journey. Half of a broken cry is all my pipes can produce and I can feel the structure of a pillar against my aching back.
