A/N: Okay. Okay. So there's probably going to be a few more chapters after this one XD—
"Thorin! Arina!" The unexpected voice of Dwalin bounces off the stone walls, panic radiating off his tone and I bring my head up to look towards the stairs, seeing said dwarf already halfway down.
With a sigh, I place a gentle hand on Thorin's shoulder and lightly attempt to push him away from the hold he still has, but it only seems to make his grip tighten.
"Thorin." I quietly whine in a playful tone, my mood a lot lighter than before and my eyes move to stare down at the top of his head. "Dwalin is coming." I breathe out and notice a few strands of hair have become tangled, due to the placement of the previous crown.
Without a thought, I instinctively bring a hand up to tame them and feel Thorin shake his head slightly, face still buried in my torso.
There's no winning with this man. I sigh and hear Dwalin's feet shuffle closer by the second before stopping abruptly, most likely due to the shock upon seeing Thorin and I's current state.
A small blush rises to my cheeks as I glance up ahead, locking eyes with the warrior and I continue to stroke Thorin's head gently.
"Is he...?" Dwalin takes a hesitant step forward after seconds of being stunned, question trailing off with worry in his eyes and I nod in response.
"It's him." I smile and cast my gaze down, halting my movements in order to embrace what I can.
Dwalin sighs in relief at my words and struts forward until he's almost directly behind Thorin. "Wargs has been spotted coming this way. Dain is surrounded and orcs have invaded Dale."
My heart drops at the devastating information and I gulp nervously, nearly forgetting there was a war just above. Though the first part of the intel, has my interest by the reigns.
"Wargs?" I question and once again try to release myself from Thorin's tight embrace, but am given the same result.
"Aye." Dwalin answers quickly and seems almost amused by my current situation, which is strange coming from him.
Maybe he's finally having a change of heart when it comes to me.
I sigh at the thought of a raid coming into Erebor and before I'm able to push Thorin away again, he reluctantly lets go and grabs my hand as he gets up. A twinge of soreness is evident within my knees as I'm finally allowed to stand, but I ignore it as Thorin steps forward, no longer holding me but is now embracing Dwalin.
They both let out deep chuckles, full of relief and I look down with a small smile, happy to see that the real Thorin is truly here.
"We must prepare for war." My dwarf instructs firmly when he returns to my side, voice deliciously deep but I bite my lip nervously.
Is he going to lock me up again?
"Dwalin, get everyone down into the main hall. We have a barrier to break." Thorin huffs out with a nod and the warrior mimics his actions before dashing away, after giving me one last look.
"My love." The name sends my heart tightening painfully, still not used to this One thing, and I stare up into sapphire orbs anxiously. "I am deeply sorry for everything I have put you through," he pauses in order to sigh, regret strong in his features and I grasp his hand tightly in reassurance, "But will you follow me one last time?"
Relief of not being trapped here floods my being and I nod sharply while squeezing my hold a bit more, "Till the end."
Thorin's shoulders drop as another deep breath is released and he slowly places his forehead against mine, warmth fusing with my colder nature, "I don't want to lose you."
