(24) A Fake Baby,Second Jobs

"Good afternoon class. Today we will be starting a class project. I have already paired you up with someone in this class. This project counts as 50% of your final grade." Ms Selena Delk said to her 4th period class.

That class had both Bucky and Ellie in it. Ms Delk went around reading her list of partners. "Barnes and Cooper." She said

Ellie closed her eyes. "Well Barnes won't be getting laid for two weeks." Another football player said

Bucky said "Shut up..she has virgin ears."

Tears began to fall as everyone laughed. Ms Delk got the class settled then started to take different partners to the other home economics. It was finally their turn to go.

Ms Delk put a fake baby in a car seat after making sure their keys were synced to the baby. "Congrats you have a baby girl. Go ahead and name her. Barnes is the last name.' Ms Delk said

"Go ahead.." Bucky said

She rolled her eyes "Maxie Taylor Barnes"

"Okay you two are all set. Work together and write about your experience at the end." Ms Delk said

Bucky took the car seat as Ellie grabbed the bag. As they started to walk to their lockers Bucky said "Will you slow down."

"I dont want to ruin your reputation." She said as she got to her locker. "Elle..I said I was sorry." He said

"But you dont mean it. It was clear back there in the class." She said

He called his dad once they were done since he didn't have basketball practice. James pulled up to see the two of them. He helped them get everything in.

"Well well..tables have turned..this project is how I won your mama over. Taylor had been trying for weeks to get your mama to say yes to a date. It took us getting paired up on this project to get her to say yes." James said

"Well that wont be happening for us James. He is to far up cheer/dancer asses. He is more concerned about chasing tail." Ellie said

"God damn it Elle..I said I was fucking sorry what more do you want from me." Bucky said in a raised tone.

"What I want? I want my mom back cause I finally got the relationship I wanted. But it took her dying for to give me that cause she was being to second mom to everyone else. What I want more than anything else in this world is for one day one fucking day that you would stand up for me instead of going along with all the jokes!" She yelled at him.

"Ellie sweetheart calm down..lets all take breathe and calm down." James said

Ellie wiped tears as she sat back in her seat. They finally got home Winnie was holding her 4 month old daughter Finley Taylor. "Oh look honey.." Winnie said

"Not now baby..they had a screaming match in the car." James said in her ear.

"Oh." Winnie said as they all went inside.

They were sitting in his floor not saying a word as they did their homework. Bucky finally broke the silence.

"Elle..I know that you felt jipped when it came to your mother. But lashing out at me or blaming me and the others isnt the way to be. It wont bring her back. And you seem to think that you are the only one that doesnt have it easy. Do you think I like being reminded how much I am like my dad or that I have to hide the fact that I have my mom's smart brain. I am not an idiot or a dumbass. So what if I like having sex or dating around. I am 16 years old Elle I get it we are all a product of these great love stories. But I am not you I dont believe in that crap." He said

"How can you say that? You of all people. Your parents are the reason why I believe in true love." She said

"I just dont okay." He said

She shook her head and walked out of his room when she heard her dad come in. They were all eating pizza.

"You ready James?" Ryan said

"Yeah.." James said

"Where are you going?" Ellie said

"The school board called us today. Said they wanted us at the meeting tonight. We will be back baby." Ryan said

"Okay." She said

"Besides you and little Barnes have a baby to take care of." Ryan said

She rolled her eyes. "I never want to hear those words again." She said and walked off.

"Buchanan..you better figure out a way to fix this with her." James said

"I am not sleeping with her." Bucky said

"Nobody said anything about sex. God you really are your daddy's son." Ryan said as they walked out.

That night Ellie was sleeping Bucky got up with the baby. As she was sleeping he saw her scars were back on her wrists. He felt tears welling he heard their dads outside.

He snuck to the stairs. Winnie was feeding the baby. "Hey baby." James said as he kissed her cheek.

"Hey what did the superintindent want with you two knuckleheads?" Winnie said

"Barnes and Cooper are at it again my darlin. We are now the new head coaches of the football team and the new heads of the athletic department." James said

"What?" She said

"Yeah..so we have a second job and I couldnt be more happier than to do this with my best friend." Ryan said

Bucky went back to his room as he held Ellie. He slowly fell asleep as cuddled around her.
