The two were interrupted from their deep sleep by the cry of a baby. The girl groaned, pushing her head into the pillow to block out the noise. She despised the sound but cherished it at the same time.

" I got it, " Sam whispered. He got up from the comfort of the warm sheets and blankets to tend to the child. The girl could hear his footsteps fading away from their bedroom.

She tried to allow herself to fall back asleep but the thought of seeing what was wrong with their child kept her from succumbing to slumber. She sat up in the bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She got up from the bed, resting her feet on the cold floor. She walked towards the room where her husband and child were.

She walked down the hallway, peering into the room to be met with the most precious sight. Sam had the small child wrapped in a blanket in his arms, rocking back in forth in a rocking chair.

He looked up at the girl, sending a groggy smile her way. She could see the love in his eyes for the child. Sam was probably met with the same look peering back at him.

The girl tip-toed over to where Sam sat, lightly resting against him. She rested her arm on the top of his head, lightly running her fingers through his shoulder-length hair.

The couple sat there, for what felt like forever, just looking down at the being that they had created. The girl could see Sam slowly start to let sleep overpower him.

" Let's go back to bed, " She whispered in his ear, while resting a kiss on the top of his head. Sam nodded lightly, resting the baby back into the crib. The girl let out her hand for him to hold. He grabbed onto it, warmth spreading through his body.
