Hey guys! I’m back. Just started school again -_-, any who, I’m back. And today’s topic will be…
STEREOTYPES.
Please leave comments :D, I love interacting with y’all.
Sooo let’s start off with the first type of stereotype that I do not think anyone else has heard of or talked about before.
1. British stereotypes. Epic_Emerald_Element sent me this inbox.
a. They all talk posh and stuff.
There is that annoying stereotype that British people are overly polite and talk in that high quality posh manner.
I notice in fanfics I see an over use of the words;
-Lad
-Mate
-Fair
-Loo
-Jolly
-Lovely
-Madam
- “since the clock struck ____”
I literally saw a scene like this, it was so stereotypical I didn’t even know what I was reading.
Ex: “Have you seen Harreh, madam?” asked Louis asked Lou
“Jolly good lad, I have seen him as the clock struck dawn, he went to the loo,” She responded whilst sipping on her lovely tea too.
“MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE! MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEE” SUDDENLY HARRY CAME IN AND ATTACKED LOUIS WITH TEA-
Dafook?
And also, in some stories, when the characters go to the bathroom, they don’t say “They went to the bathroom” they say “They went in the toilet” or “They went to the loo”
I have never heard anyone say “They went in the toilet” except my grandfather, and my family lives in America.
And the whole “tea” bring us to yet another British stereotype
b. All British people drink tea
No they don’t... where do people even get that assumption from? There are other drinks such as coffee and stuff, they do not live off of tea.
