Hermione tossed and turned in her red and gold bed sheets but for the love of merlin she couldn't sleep.
She decided against her better judgement to get up and take a walk, maybe go by the library.
Hermione put on a red Gryffindor hoodie with her house crest on the front and her last name printed on the back.
She slipped on a pair of red sneakers and slipped out of the dorm, grabbing her wand on the way out and leaving Pavarti, Lavender and Fay in the rather cold room by themselves.
She played with her hair which was braided in two French braids to keep it from frizzing in the morning.
She slipped out of the portrait hole and took a right. She soon found herself lost in the many corridors of Hogwarts and legs aching.
She slid down and took a seat against the brick wall she'd been keeping her hand on for the entire time.
"Can't sleep?" A voice asked her in the dark.
Hermione tensed up a bit, but after realizing the owner of the voice she cast the Lumos spell on her wand to look him in the eye.
"Draco what are you doing here?"
Draco looked miserably tired, his hair was free of hair gel (although he stopped using the copious amounts he did last year) and was combed, he had dark circles under his eyes, though Hermione was sure she had them too.
"Couldn't sleep. Got lost." He replied, looking at Hermione. He was wearing a Slytherin version of her sweatshirt and flannel pants.
"What a coincidence." Hermione played with the time turner around her neck.
"Yeah no kidding." He responded with a laugh. "Who would've thought, muggleborn Granger and pureblood Malfoy actually talking and not shouting at each other."
"I guess it is kind of strange." Hermione turned so she was facing Draco.
"You know, if Potter or Weasley ever saw us here they might kill me."
"I doubt they know where this is, I don't." Hermione looked up, no portraits.
"Funny, I don't either. I wander and then end up here."
"How long have you wandered here?"
"Not very, just in the past few weeks I couldn't sleep."
"I guess we're more alike then we are different." Hermione stood up.
"It's getting late, err, early. We should probably go." Draco stood as well.
"Now to find my way back," Hermione said under her breathe.
She waved goodbye to Draco and they went their separate ways.
She eventually found a hallway she recognized and jogged the rest of the way to the Gryffindor Common Room.
Once she was back in the warmth of her sheets, she could finally drift off into a dreamless sleep.
-That Morning, Gryffindor Girls Dorms-
Hermione was awoke by Fay knocking over a lamp.
"Oh no, what've I done!?" She stood up and stepped away from the shards of glass.
"Relax fay, reparo." Hermione muttered and the lamp went back to normal.
Hermione got dressed slower than usual, today was a Saturday, their first Hogsmeade trip. She tugged on a pair of skinny jeans and a pink shirt with a grey jacket over that. Her feet were enclosed by grey sneakers as she and her dormmates set off to breakfast.
-Hogsmeade-
Draco and Theo Nott were wandering the streets, on the look out for anything out of the ordinary when Theo began talking.
"So Draco, I found this book in the library-"
"Library? What were you doing there?"
"I'll tell you late. Point is, found this book." He pulled out a book with what looked like tea-spilled pages and leather covers. On the front it said: Relationes Libro de spe Pugnaturos. (Book of Anticipated relationships)
"Well? What's it say? You're the one who knows Latin!" Theo shoved the book into his hands.
Draco knew what it said. He just didn't want to say it.
"It says relations of the Wizarding and Muggle worlds."
"Oh," Then looked disappointed. "I don't need this!"
He thrust it into Draco's arms and he took it, wondering what lie ahead in the depths of the beige pages.
"Wanna grab a butterbeer?" Theo asked Draco and he simply nodded.
-After Hogsmeade, Slytherin Boys Dorms-
Draco made sure nobody was in the room before he opened the book. It was clearly new and had just been used, he could smell the ink on the parchment.
He flipped the pages, only finding names of wizards from years ago listed.
"What even is this?" He asked out loud.
"What it is mine Malfoy." Draco jumped five feet in the air and turned around to see professor Snape standing in the doorway.
"Professor?"
"Give it to me Draco, and you won't have detention."
Draco handed the book over.
"How far did you look?"
"Only to the first few pages."
"Good. I never want to see this book in here again, do you understand?"
"Yes sir." Professor Snape left with a whip of his robes and Draco sat down on his bed, wondering what was in that book.
-That night-
Draco couldn't sleep again. Maybe it was from the quidditch practice before bed that made his muscles ache, or maybe he just had a lot on his mind.
Draco stood up and stretched. He was wearing the same flannel pants and tee shirt he'd worn the night before. He slipped on his hoodie with his wand it the wand pocket in the sleeve and slipped out of the Slytherin common rooms.
He wandered through the castle, somehow ending up in the same spot he had last night.
He saw a figure slumped against the wall, her face in between her knees. It was dark, but Draco's eyes had adjusted and he could see she was wearing a nightgown with sleeves that reached down to her wrists.
He knew who it was, he could here the familiar sobs from a few halls down. He internally sighed and took out his wand.
"Lumos," He whispered. "So, we meet again."
