-The Next Morning-

Hermione smiled as she thought about last night as she lie all dressed in her bed. She stared up at the wooded ceiling that reminded her of her parents house in the woods.

She got up early that morning, around sunrise. Nobody was awake, just her, so she decided she had time to take a shower.

Once she was out, she combed through her hair, braiding it to the side. She felt adventurous, so she pulled out a small bag, the contents were mostly make-up and a few perfumes. Her older cousin had given it to her "in case you meet someone." Hermione had scoffed but took the bag anyway. It was finally coming in handy.

Hermione looked into the foggy full length mirror in the girls marble bathroom. With her right index finger, she wrote D+H on it. She quickly erased it, careful not to let anyone know it'd ever been there.

She leaned in closer than normal. She gave her eyelashes each a swipe with the mascara wand, and her lips two swipes with her lip gloss.

Hermione felt ready that day.

"You look nice." Fay commented as Hermione stepped out of steamy the bathroom.

"Thanks." Hermione grabbed her books from off her red covers, the only covers made out of the three other beds, and rushed to meet Harry and Ron in the common room.

Hermione ran down the stairs, eager to see Harry and Ron.

"Good Morning Hermione, you looked good today." Harry reached out his arms to hug her and she returned it with genuine pleasure. Sure she gave Harry and Ron hugs and occasional pecks on the cheek, but it didn't mean anything. Harry was like her brother, and Ron her best friend.

"Thank you Harry." She turned to Ron and tried to offer him a hug, but he declined.

"Morning Hermione." He muttered, his face was pointed down and from what Hermione could see, his eyes were red and puffy.

"Good morning Ronald." She wondered what might be causing Ron to be in this horrendous state. "Now let's go to breakfast, I'm starving!"

Ron walked in front of Harry and Hermione, and was very clearly frustrated with something.

"Harry, what's got Ron all sad?" Hermione asked with caution.

Under his breath, just loud enough for Hermione to hear, he said: "He's interested in this girl and rumor has it she likes someone else."

"Oh that's terrible! Why couldn't he have come to me, I might be able to fix it!" Hermione was sad her friend didn't want to trust her.

"I think you're to close to the situation Hermione." Harry said.

"What do you mean?"

"Nothing, I'll tell you later."

"Mhmm, ok."

They ran to catch up with Ron, but Hermione's mind was in a swirl.

-Slytherin Dorms-

Draco lay in green bedsheets long after everyone ventured out to breakfast.

He kept thinking. He was so happy Hermione had said yes, although now he wasn't sure what to do. Were they telling people? He'd asked what if anybody had found out about them, so maybe it was implied to keep it a secret. Like, a Slytherin and Gryffindor dating? Enemies dating? Hogwarts would go wild on that gossip.

He felt a chill enter the room, not the normal Slytherin dorm cold, an icy and frigid cold that hardly ever set foot in the room.

"Mr. Malfoy," A certain professor Snape entered the dorm.

"Professor." Draco didn't give his professor a second glace, only looking up at the ceiling with his arms behind his head.

"Why are you not at breakfast?" He inquired.

"I'm, uh, thinking."

"About...?"

"About nothing of importance professor. Just school stuff."

"By the way, you might want to check the hallway next time before giving a Gryffindor a hug."

Draco shot up, shaking the entire black wood bedframe and looked at his godfather with wide eyes.

"Some might say you're betraying the house." He gave Draco a hard look, but then softened. "You're not the first to fall for a lion."

Draco hesitated before answering. "You, loved a Gryffindor?"

"Draco that is a story for another time. Point is, be careful. I will keep your secret because I know what it's like to be ridiculed over something as simple as this, but your father would not be too pleased if he found out."

Professor Snape left the room and Draco wonder who else had seen them.

He quickly dressed and ran for breakfast, hoping he'd catch Hermione alone to tell her, but she was never without Harry or Fay.

-Charms Class-

Hermione burst in late to charms. Draco eyed her, wondering why she was late, until he saw the time turner on her neck.

He knew she took a lot of courses and that McGonagall had given her a time turner, in fact his father had told him.

"Welcome Ms. Granger, if you look up at the board you can see the new seating chart. And once you've found your seat start at the assignment on the board would you?"

Hermione nodded and looked at the board, Draco could see the delight in her eyes when she found herself sitting next to Draco.

"Malfoy." She said.

"Granger." Draco sneered.

There partnership went like this in Charms class because they both knew if they dared to talk to one another like they had last night, the gossip would fly.

-That night-

Hermione couldn't sleep. She was thinking about Draco, how nice he was when you really got to know him.

She slipped out of bed in a pair of leggings and the sweatshirt.

Sneaking out of the Gryffindor common, she raced down the halls.

When she saw Draco, he looked awful.

She ran up to him and in the dim candlelight could see a shining silver tear on his cheek.

"Draco, are you ok?" Hermione grabbed his and took it in hers.

"No. Snape knows."

"About?"

"About us."

Hermione's breath stopped for a moment. The icy silence of the empty hallways was terrifying, the only sounds were hers and Draco's breath.

She took this time to evaluate Draco's expression. He looked genuinely sad, like he'd let someone down. And that someone was her.

Hermione finally got up the courage to say something.

"Oh." She leaned into his chest which was the height of her face, Draco had grown tall in the summer. Maybe it was just that she wasn't very tall, only around 5'2" at the present time.

"He told me he wouldn't tell. But this got me thinking, is there anyone who might be suspicious of our, uh, us?"

"Well, uh, Fay found out. I let it slip, I'm so sorry."

Draco laughed. "Don't worry. She wouldn't tell. If you'd told Lavender however-"

"I would never." Hermione looked up to his face and smiled.

"Good." They stood there for minutes. Hermione took in the silence, no portraits babbling on about something or other, no nosey Hogwarts students, jut her and Draco.
