-The Battle of Hogwarts-

Lights of green and red flashed around as Draco ran to find a safe spot to hide. Four hours into battle and there wasn't an end in sight.

Draco ran through the halls, not giving the dead bodies two glances. He darted down one hallway and found himself somehow isolated. All the cries of battle were gone if not dimmed severely, and there wasn't a person anywhere.

The hallway was beautiful, it had stained glass all around, and the ceilings reach very high. The walls and floor were made up of some kind of sand brick, making it very soft but edgy.

Draco felt like he recognized it. He walked a few paces down before he spotted it.

A small heart was carved into the wall, pretty far down, and in the center was "H+D" written. It was the heart he'd written after their first real meet-up, he knew it was her, that would be his love.

Draco was so shocked by the heart that he didn't move when a big sound knocked out that wall, shattering the heart to pieces. Draco himself was fine, better than ever, but realized the severity of this.

If Hermione died, he didn't know what he'd do with himself. He'd probably get himself killed by just showing some sympathy to her. He had to find her.

Draco started running from the direction he came, he rushed past all peoples and spells until he saw her.

Not caring what anybody though, not even his own father, he rushed to her.

"Draco!" She went running towards him and him to her.

When she became in close enough distance, Draco felt her jump up onto him and bury her face in his neck.

"Thank god your ok."

"I thought I'd lost you for a second."

"I'm here, I'm always here Hermione."

Hermione unwrapped her legs from Dracos waist and kissed him passionately. In the middle of battle, with spells racing around them, Draco could only focus on her.

But it seemed as though no one else paid any attention and they quickly parted.

They didn't say another word to each other because they were both pulled into a duel with someone.

-Courtyard-

"Harry Potter is DEAD!" Voldemort yelled.

Dracos eyes wandered to Harry, was he dead? No, he could see Harry breathing. Harry was a bad actor.

Draco turned to Hermione who's eyes were filled with tears.

He was about to touch her shoulder and tell her the news but his fathers voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Draco, come."

Draco decided. No. He was never on their side to begin with. He wanted to be with the one he loved most, Hermione.

"No," He said.

He felt all eyes turn to him.

"EXCUSE ME?" His father bellowed across the courtyard.

"NO. I said no. I was never on your side. I was always on theirs. You know what, I don't care anymore, Hermione?"

He turned to face her. She smiled and nodded.

Draco kissed her.

Gasps were heard from all across the campus.

He broke from Hermione only when the shouts of his father boomed through the air.

"DRACO GET OFF THAT MUDBLOOD SCUM!"

"She's not scum, she's my girlfriend. If you don't like it then I don't know what to tell you."

His father gasped and turned away from him.

It was in that moment when Harry rolled from Hagrids arms and fired a spell at Voldemort. A few moments later, his 'fearless leader' was dead.

-Later that day-

Draco looked at Hermione lying next to him.

Draco smiled and kissed her forehead that had several sweat beads dripping down it.

Hermione smiled and pulled Dracos chest towards hers and buried her head in his chest. She could hear his heartbeat.

"I missed you." She said.

Draco kept his eyes closed and rested his chin on her head.

"I missed you too. I missed nights like these, just you, and me. And all the time in the world. "

She smiled and snuggled against Dracos body and Draco wrapped his arms around her bare back and pulled her closer to him. "I love you more than the entire world."

"I love you more."

"Nuh uh."

"Yuh huh!"

"Fine you win." Draco chuckled and slowly drifted off to sleep with the love of his life sleeping just next to him, for the first time in a year.

-The Great Hall, the Next Day-

Draco and Hermione walked hand-in-hand into the Great Hall where they, filled with sorrow, scanned the bodies for someone they might know.

They had heard about the casualties of Fred and Lavender, but they wanted to make sure they didn't know any others.

Sadly, Hermione came across a body she knew.

"It's Carrie." She said.

Draco turned to the stretcher where a very dead Carrie lay.

Hermione dropped to her knees and her eyes filled with tears.

"I can't believe it! I knew her so well."

Hermione looked back on all their memories together, ice cream in deer park with Marshall and Eddie, how was she going to tell them. She thought back on all the secrets, the packs, everything. She would no longer have Carrie as her maid of honor, no longer her sister for life, no more Carrie.

Hermione sobbed and bowed her head to Carries heart. She died without her mother, father, or even remotely any friends or family around her. She could've saved her, she could've saved her. Hermione was devastated.

Hermione sat there for hours, with Draco and Harry taking shifts in comforting her, rubbing her back and telling her it was going to be ok. But how would it? The one person, other than Draco, Harry, and Ron, that really understood her and knew what she had been through.

Finally, Hermione stood from her position and slowly took one of the bracelets from Carries wrist and tied it on hers. She would never take it off.

The last piece of Carrie, was that bracelet.
