Note to Readers: It's a little late, but I figured it'd be fun to do a Halloween story, so I hope you like it.

The door banged open as six loud teenage boys entered the dark house.  They were laughing and talking after coming back from going out to eat at the Dingo, seeing as how they had nothing else to do on Halloween night.

Darry clicked on the lights so they could see, but only after Two-Bit tripped over the coffee table and face-planted the carpeting.  Of course everyone burst out laughing, along with Two-Bit after his face wasn't smushed into the floor.

They all sat down and started watching a very un-scary Halloween episode of Mickey Mouse.

"Hey, where'd Tara and Dally go? I thought they were supposed to meet us back here," Ponyboy asks.

"Don't worry, I don't think they got mugged by a bunch of toddlers dressed up as ghosts," Steve jokes.

It falls silent again as they all return to watching TV, until all the sudden Two-Bit says something.

"You know what we should do?" he asks mischievously.

        "What?"  Soda asks him.

"Tell ghost stories," Two-Bit replies matter-of-factly.

"Like you've ever read a book in your life," Steve retorts.

"Look who's talking," Pony mumbles and Steve hisses,

        "Smart-ass kid," at him.

Darry tells them to both knock it off and then Two-Bit surprisingly turns off his beloved Mickey Mouse, and then grabs a flashlight and clicks off the lights.  He sits down on the floor and holds the light under his chin and begins telling a story.

"A couple years ago there lived a girl, about sixteen, who loved to read books.  She didn't have many friends and her parents were often away on business trips.  One dark night, she was in her room reading a book late at night.  Her parents were away for the whole weekend, and she was staying by herself.  She had a little dog to keep her company, and she was enthralled in her book when she heard a scratching outside the house, like claws raking against wood.  She held her hand down by the side of her bed so the little dog could lick her fingers, which always reassured her.  A little while later she heard the scratching again, and once again she held her hand over the side of her bed so the dog could lick her fingers.  Eventually she got too tired to keep her eyes open and read anymore, and she closed the book and went to sleep.  The next morning she got up and went into the bathroom to take a shower.  She pulled back the curtain.......and there, hanging by it's neck.......it's fur covered in blood.......was her little dog.  And written along the back of the shower wall......in blood......it said 'Humans can lick too,'" Two-Bit finished his story.

It was silent for a minute and then Ponyboy said assuredly, "That's not real.  It's a story."

"Well there's got to be some truth in it.  Why would someone just make something like that up?" Soda asks.

"To scare you.  That's the whole point of a scary story," Darry says in a duh voice.

At the same time, they all the sudden hear an ominous creak like a door slowly opening and a scratching noise from down the hall.

"You sure it's not real?" Johnny asks timidly, and he was shaking slightly.

"Yeah," Pony says confidently.  "Come on, I'll show you," he says and gets up, heading down the dark hallway because all the lights, except for the flashlight Two-Bit's holding, are turned off.

He pauses in front of the partially open storage closet door.  Everyone else is cautiously watching behind him, and trying to quench the pounding of his heart and the churning of his gut, Pony takes a deep breath and reaches up to grab the door and pull it open.

It creaks slowly open, and everyone holds their breath as they remember that the door had been closed tightly the last time they saw it, and it was rarely ever opened.  A collective breath was released when they saw that it was just dark, and appeared empty.

Until a rigid body fell forwards from the dark closet and smacked right into Ponyboy.  He grabbed the corpse that had fresh blood all over her neck and shirt and blank staring eyes, but he only screamed when he realized who the corpse was.

It was Tara, and she was motionless though still warm, like she'd just been murdered.  This couldn't be happening, he thought and stepped back in shock, her stiff bloodied body falling to the floor.

Soundlessly, a second figure stepped out of the closet.  He was tall and had a white hockey mask in place of a face, surrounded by a large hood, and he was dressed entirely in black.  But the scary part was the butcher knife, that was supposed to be in the Curtis's kitchen.  The blade was covered in bright red blood that was dripping all over the floor, and there appeared to be darker spots on his black clothes that could have been blood as well.

"Holy shit," Soda mumbled, his eyes flitting back and forth from Tara's body to the killer dressed in black.  Ponyboy was staring wide-eyed and backing away, Steve was frozen on the spot, Two-Bit looked utterly confused, Johnny was pressed against the wall, pale and shaking badly, and Darry looked mad and kind of dumbfounded.

Silently, the murderer dressed in black raised the butcher knife over his head................
