Gabriel walked up to the front desk at the same time that a guy with dark hair and gray-blue eyes was walking away. He looked about Lucifer's age, and could imagine how much Lucifer would fangirl if he was there. He was so gay. He walked up to the front desk and rang the little bell.

"Hiya, what can I help you with?" a woman asked as she emerged from the back room.

"Uh, hi, I'm Gabriel, I came in with my brothers and uncle the other day to get my schedule," he explained. "I just wanted to see if there was a dance class or competitive team or something like that on campus?" The woman frowned and looked at her computer for a very long minute.

"I'm sorry, but the dance teacher has been really serious about not allowing any guys in the class, something about making the girls uncomfortable," she said. Gabriel wasn't even capable of covering his shock and hurt.

"Well, are you sure I couldn't just talk to her? I swear I'm not just joining to hit on the girls. Hell, I won't even look at the girls, if that's what it takes," Gabriel said. The woman frowned in apology and looked at her laptop.

"I'll go see if she would be willing to meet with you, alright? What's your first class?" she asked.

"Study hall," Gabriel said as he pulled on a loose thread on his backpack strap. He was just planning on napping during Study hall anyway, he had barely slept the night before.

"Okay, how about you just sit here while I go talk to her, okay? I'm sure we'll get this all sorted out," she said before disappearing again. Gabriel sighed and sat down on one of the hard plastic chairs in the waiting area, pulling out his phone and headphones. He shoved the earbuds into his ears and scanned through his playlist. Right now he had Lucifer's Possible Band Cover Songs playlist, Castiel's Alternative Jams playlist, and his own personal favorite his own Two A.M. Songs. He shuffled through the songs and his favorite song came on, Body Gold by Oh Wonder. He shut his eyes and leaned his haed back against the wall.

"Gabriel Novak?" his eyes shot open at the harsh voice, and he was confused and disoriented for a second until he realized he must have fallen asleep in the waiting room. A woman with a resting bitch face was staring at him. He pulled the earbuds out of his ears and stood, offering his hand.

"That's me. It's nice to meet you," he said. The woman didn't take his hand, so Gabriel just awkwardly shoved it back in his pocket. There were so many words he had to say to the woman already, but if he wanted to be considered for the team, he'd have to be respectful.

"Look, I appreciate your intrest in participating on the competition team, but I already have all the dancers I need," she said. Gabriel felt his heart sink.

"But...." he started.

"Look, I know your name on the dance circuits. I know you win, a lot. But I'm not allowing a boy on the team. Boys win more simply because judges aren't used to seeing them. I'm not going to devalue the work of my girls because of you," she said. Gabriel was almost stunned into silence. Sure, he'd gotten a lot of crap because he was a guy and a dancer. But he hadn't ever had an educator be such a bitch about it.

"Miss, I don't know how good your team is, and I don't want to devalue your dancers either, but I can promise I don't just win because I'm a guy. I'm a good dancer, I'm a good team member. If you give me a chance..." he started.

"There's a studio in time you might want to check out, but you're not dancing on my team," she said before turning on her heel and walking away. Gabriel fought the urge to hit something. He sat back down on the chair and buried his face in his hands.

"I'm guessing it didn't go well, huh? I'm sorry," the front desk lady said, sitting down next to him. "Donut?" she offered him a powdered donut, and although usually nothing could stop him from taking sugar, he didn't think his stomach could handle it right now. There was no way he could afford to take classes at a studio. Dance was like a job, and he wouldn't have time to work and take classes. And he couldn't tell Lucifer either, because he knew his older brother would work two jobs if it meant putting Gabriel through classes, and Gabriel couldn't stand to see his older brother struggling like that. And Anna had only been born a couple of months ago, so he knew Chuck and Becky were short on money.
