It had been two weeks since they had first started school. Dean sort of liked it. Bobby was chill, and Sam seemed to be getting along well. He had a total of one friend, who he talked about to Adam all the time but shut up about as soon as Dean walked into the room. Dean wasn't going to push it though. He was just happy his brother was doing well. Michael was rarely home, between football and his fifty million AP classes, but they had hung out almost the entire Saturday before. And Dean had plans for what they were going to do this Saturday.
"Coach Rufus wants to kill me," Michael said as he walked in the door. He was drenched in sweat and had dirt smudged all over his shirt.
"What did he do to you?" Dean asked, suddenly glad he had said no when Michael had tried to get him to try out with him.
"Bear crawls. Up and down the fucking field because fucking Balthazar decided to skip fucking practice," Michael growled. Dean tried his best to hide his laughter. "It's not fucking funny."
"You don't have to swear so much, Michael, I think it's pretty evident that you're fucking angry,"Dean said, making a big deal about the curse. Michael glared at him, and if Dean didn't know better he'd think that Michael was the source of Sam's mega-bitch-face.
"Shut up, Dean. I'm going upstairs. I've got to shower. And do my AP English essay. And then I've got to study for my AP Calc test because I literally have no ideas how to do Volume by Rotation..." Michael trailed off from his rambling. "I'll just call Kevin, he can help me, that kid's a genius. And I forgot I've got the lab write-up for AP Chemistry..." Michael looked like he was going to continue rambling, but Dean cut him off.
"You're allowed to do homework till eight, okay? Lisa is coming into town with her ice skating partner for some party, and I'm going. And you're my plus one, okay?" Dean said. Michael wrinkled up his nose.
"Nah, I'm not really the party type," Michael said.
"Dude, it's not like a high school party. Like, sure there will be some alcohol, but it's not like...I don't know, whatever you think it is," Dean explained. Michael sighed and looked thoughtful.
"Fine, I'll go," Michael said.
"Can we come too?" Adam asked as he appeared from around the corner. Damn that kid for being so easy to forget.
"Absolutely not," Michael said.
"Why? You're going," Adam argued.
"I'm almost eighteen, Adam. You're fifteen. What if some girl tries to hit on you? What if someone offers you alcohol? Or drugs?" Michael said, going full mom mode on his younger brother. Dean rolled his eyes.
"Sure kid, you can come. Tell Sammy to come too," Dean said. Michael shot him a glare. He figured this was the weirdest part about having siblings while in the system. Him and Michael were basically their brother's parents. Or, in Dean's case, he was the cool uncle while Michael struggled to parent both of their siblings.
"Thanks for undermining me," Michael said as Adam sprinted up the stairs to tell Sam.
"Look, Sam will make sure Adam doesn't get into any trouble. He's got a stick up his ass just like you," Dean said with a wink at Michael. Michael just deadpanned, mumbled a couple unkind words about Dean, and stormed up the stairs. Dean checked his phone.
My girl <3: Hey, baby, I'm so excited to see you tonight! I can't believe we live one town over from each other now! And you're gonna love Benny, he's great!
Dean_Loves_Pie: Benny is your ice skating partner, right? And I'm sure he's great. If you like him
Dean stopped in the middle of texting as another message came up on his phone.
