Dean pulled Castiel out of his car and headed up the stairs. He had ended up crashing at Castiel's place after dropping Michael off at the party, and he hadn't been back to his place since the afternoon before. He was sort of pissed at himself for falling asleep so early in the night, considering that it was rare he got alone time with his secret boyfriend. And they never got to speak during school, since he was still too scared to tell Lisa. She had been especially moody lately, and he strangely couldn't catch even the slightest bit of emotion from her. It was like their bond was fragmenting.
Dean couldn't find it in himself to be concerned. He barely made it in the door before Castiel's lips were on his. Dean laughed, which broke the kiss. How had his life come to this? He really couldn't be normal, could he?
"Stop laughing," Castiel pouted. Dean smiled and kissed him again.
"I'm just glad you seem to be into this," Dean said. Castiel frowned and pulled Dean against his chest. Dean sighed and pulled Castiel closer, so the younger boy's head was resting on Dean's chest.
"I'm sorry about that," Castiel said. Dean frowned.
"No need to be sorry. I just want to know you're okay. And if you're not okay, I need to know what I can do to help, even if it's just waiting patiently," Dean explained.
"I just..." Castiel looked away sheepishly.
"You can tell me anything, my angel," Dean said softly. Castiel nodded.
"I know. It's just that I don't like talking about it. But I want to, for you. I just, sometimes get a little freaked out when things seem like they're going to happen between us. Just because when I was at the conversion camp, we were basically trained that uh..." Castiel frowned and then buried his face in Dean's chest. Dean ran a finger through Castiel's dark hair and rubbed soothing circles into his shoulder with the other hand. "Arousal to homosexual activity was punished," Castiel whispered. Dean wasn't sure what he wanted to do more at that moment: comfort Castiel, or murder every single person who had ever hurt him. What sort of sick parents would send their kid to a conversion camp? Especially someone as kind and gentle and beautiful as Castiel?
"I'm so sorry," Dean said. He pulled away from Castiel a little so he could look into his blue eyes. He grabbed his hand and pulled him to the couch, sitting down and then pulling Castiel into his lap. "You know there's nothing wrong with you, right? Like, nothing at all. Those people...those people are horrible for what they did to you, and I'm not going to let anyone hurt you like that again. None of us are. Not me, not Lucifer, not Gabriel, or Michael or Sam, or anyone else."
"I love you," Castiel said. Dean didn't realize the gravity of the words until a couple of seconds later, at about the same time that Castiel did. "Oh, God. Oh, fuck, please forget I said that. I didn't mean it like that..." Dean cut him off with a long, slow kiss, during the process of which Castiel shifted on top of him so he was straddling his hips.
"Did you really not mean it?" Dean asked, looking up at Castiel. Castiel frowned and tilted his head to one side. Dean bit his lip so he didn't do something stupid and far too forward.
"I did," Castiel said, cheeks dusted with pink.
"I love you too. I'm in love with you, Cas," Dean responded. Castiel smiled and leaned back down into the kiss.
"I've been thinking..." Castiel said. He was cut off by the sound of something crashing upstairs. Dean's eyebrows shot up. He thought he was the only one home. Michael had mentioned going...somewhere over text, Sam was with Gabriel, and Alfie and Adam had stayed after school for...something? And Bobby was hanging out with Rufus, or at least that's what Dean thought. He had an issue with remembering where people were. Unfortunately for the sake of Dean's curiosity, Castiel climbed off of him and didn't finish whatever it was he was going to say before. He walked up the stairs, Dean following behind.
