Crying Rivers

Sam walked into Bobby's house, fighting the urge to pump his fist dramatically in the air. He had fucking done it. He had made a move on Gabriel Novak, and it had actually worked for him. Gabe liked him back. This day couldn't get any better. Unfortunately, that meant the only way for the day to go was down. Bobby was already in bed by the time he got back, which was around two in the morning. He had taken Gabriel to the movies, and then they had gotten frozen yogurt. And then they made out a bit in Bobby's car, which was great.

Sam had done a lot of firsts today. First confession of love. First kiss. First makeout session. First hickey. Luckily, he had been on the giving end of that, which had made Gabriel giggle like a schoolgirl. Sam decided he was going to be giving them a lot more. He was still reeling from the entire day, trying to come down from his high, when he opened the door to his room and found Dean sitting on his bed.

He half-espected Dean to be angry. Sam had made sure to text him and Michael every couple of hours so they knew he was okay. But then he saw Dean had his face buried in his hands and was, almost undeniably, crying. Sam sat down next to his brother, waiting for him to put himself back together. He knew if Michael was there, he would have conforted Dean. But Sam knew that Dean didn't want to feel like he was putting extra stress on Sam, and wouldn't have been happy about Sam trying to comfort him. Eventually, Dean wiped his eyes almost angrily and looked at Sam.

"How did it go?" Dean asked, voice still thick with emotion.

"It went good. What's a matter?" Sam asked. Dean looked at the floor, and then at Sam.

"Nothing you need to worry about, Sammy," Dean said. Sam gave Dean his best bitchface.

"Dean, you're my brother. I'm going to worry whether you tell me what's up, or not," Sam said. Dean looked like he was about to talk when the door to the room opened. Both of them were surprised to see Michael standing there. His eyes were red and puffy, and he looked like he hadn't slept in a week. There was a chance that wasn't an overexaggeration.

"Are you okay?" Dean asked. Michael struggled for a couple of seconds trying to hold back his tears, but eventually failed. "Is Adam okay?" Dean asked. Michael nodded.

"I'm sorry, I'm stupid," Michael said, trying to mask his sobs with laughs. "Adam's fine. I'm just crying because I'm a fucking idiot."

"Same," Dean said. Michael dropped down on the bed inbetween Sam and Dean. He wrapped an arm around Sam's shoulder and pulled him into a weird hug while he rested his body on Dean's side. "I think I just made a huge mistake."

"Tell me about it," Michael said. Sam shifted in Michael's hug to see him looking at Dean with concern. It was sort of funny to Sam how everyone always suspected Michael and Dean to have some sort of relationship in the past. Which grossed both of them out an unbelievable amount. Although, Michael was currently almost laying in Dean's lap, so Sam could see why people would think that. He also knew that Michael and Dean would kill each other if they tried to be anything other than friends. "Nah, I'm serious. What did you do?" Michael asked.

"I...I don't love Lisa. I mean, I love Lisa, but I'm not in love with Lisa," Dean explained.

"Duh," Michael and Sam said simultaneously which made them both laugh. Sam shifted so he was laying his head on Michael's stomach. They were like one really weird wolf pack. At this moment, it seemed like Michael was being the communal mother, despite the fact that his eyes kept periodically filling with tears which he would blink away.

"Okay, gosh guys, thanks for telling me before," Dean huffed. "Anyway, I think I'm falling for Cas."

"Fuck!" Sam exclaimed. Michael sat up and glared at him. Sam covered his mouth and blushed. "Sorry. Gabriel just said that he thought you were going to hook up with Cas before Adam and Alfie hooked up, or Lucifer and Michael..." Sam started. He didn't say anything else, because Michael burst into tears. Dean looked so shocked and confused. Michael had been crying before, but this was full on sobbing. Dean wrapped an arm around him and Sam did the same, turning Michael into the inside of some sort of weird Winchester sandwich.
