Michael walked into his performativity class, ignoring the fact that his hands were shaking and he felt a little bit like he couldn't breathe. He wasn't even presenting, he didn't know what he was freaking out about so much. He just needed to relax. He looked up at the same moment that Adam and Alfie walked into the room. His younger brother had one arm around his boyfriend's shoulder as if he was serving as both guide and protector of the younger boy. Knowing Adam, he probably was. Seeing his brother sent Michael through another wave of panic as he felt his chest clench up. He was going to have to tell his brother.....
No.
No, Michael was not thinking about that now. Michael wasn't thinking about the secret he was keeping from his little brother. He wasn't thinking about the fact that he had to somehow break his little brother's heart. He wasn't thinking about getting drunk tonight and hooking up with a stranger, and he definitely, definitely wasn't thinking about....
Lucifer walked into the room with Charlie and Michael forgot that he wasn't supposed to be thinking about him. How could he not think about him? Michael had been digging through his backpack for his writing notebook but froze as Lucifer entered, his quest for his notebook forgotten because even now, Michael couldn't stop himself from wishing that he was the one at Lucifer's side.
And the worst part was that he could be. There was nothing really stopping him, other than his responsibilities. Responsibilities to his brother. He had already let Adam down. He wasn't about to do it again. Least of all for a boy. Even if that boy had a laugh like a summer breeze and a smile like the sun breaching the clouds on a stormy day. Even if Michael was in love with that boy.
"Hey, dude, what's up?" Dean asked as he walked into the room behind Lucifer.
"What?" Michael asked, completely missing what Dean had just said to him.
"Umm...are you okay?" Dean asked. "You look like you're having a panic attack. Are you good?" Dean said the last part in a whisper so no one could hear. Michael kept the panic attacks a secret from everyone, except Dean. And Dean only knew because he'd been witness to a couple of the attacks.
"No, I'm not having one," Michael lied. He was honestly impressed by how calm he managed to look despite the fact that he felt like someone was trying to rip his heart out of his chest. "I'm good, dude."
"Okay, fine, lie to me," Dean huffed as he dropped into the seat next to Michael.
"Hey," Lisa said as she entered the room, throwing her bag on the desk next to Dean and then sitting down, looking about as grumpy as her soulmate. Michael looked over at her. He wasn't psychic by any means, but he could almost swear there was something different about Lisa. It was a bit like how Dean was. She was happy. Unless she was around Dean, in which case, she was absolutely miserable. Michael would have to figure out what was up with that.
Castiel walked into the room next, eyes darting quickly over to Dean before he dropped into a seat next to Lucifer. Gabriel and Sam were last to the room, Sam pushing Gabriel's wheelchair and the middle Novak brother looking grumpy about it.
"Well, I'm glad you all decided to show up today," Rowena said as she walked to the front of the room. She was wearing a floor-length dress and was, once again, far too overdressed. It must have run in the family considering both her and her son worked at the school and they both seemed a tad too formal. "You all remember who's presenting today?" Rowena said. Everyone nodded. Michael could feel his heartbeat in his ears and tried to take a deep breath. There was nothing too freak out about. He wasn't even presenting.
"Who's first?" Sam asked. Michael smiled a bit at how nervous the youngest Winchester sounded. He had to present today too.
"Well, we're going to start with..." Rowena looked around the room and then her eyes fell were Michael least wanted them. "Luke, would you like to go first?" Michael rolled his eyes at the name. Lucifer had never been normal, he didn't know why he bothered to go by a name that was anything but overdramatic.
