Dean rubbed his hands together and wondered when the weather had gotten so cold. He was so tired of hospitals. he stretched and walked into the building, smiling at the nurses. They all recognized him by now. He had been avoiding Cstiel for the past week, ever since Lisa's accident. He hated himself for that.

His plan had been to break up with Lisa after her competition, but then she had gotten hurt and it didn't sit right with Dean to break up with her when she was so clearly upset. He got to her room where, like usual, she was crying. Basically every time he walked in she was crying, and then she would pretend like she hadn't been. It killed Dean to see her like this. Even if he wasn't in love with Lisa, he still cared about her a tremendous amount.

"Hey, what's going on with you?" Dean asked gently, sitting down at her side. She looked at him, her eyes shining with tears and regret. For a second, she parted her lips like she was going to tell him the truth. But then she shut her mouth and pursed her lips for a long second.

"Nothing, I'm fine," Lisa said through her tears.

"Is it your leg?" Dean asked. "You're going to be okay, it's going to heal well, according to the doctors." Lisa wiped her tears away and nodded. Dean didn't think the tears had anything to do with her leg. "Is it me? Do you want me to be here more?" Dean asked. he had spent all the time he wasn't at school at the hospital with Lisa since her accident. That thought also made him wince. In the past couple of days, he had basically put everything on hold for Lisa's sake. Everytime he walked into his bedroom he could see Michael seemed to be doing worse. But instead of checking on his best friend, he was here. And it didn't even seem like Lisa wanted him here.

"No, you're here all the time, Dean," Lisa mumbled. She sounded just as confused and emotional as Dean felt. "You know, I don't think I deserve you," Lisa said with a small smile. Dean winced. She was upset about something, thinking about how he was such a great boyfriend for being there for her, and all he could think about was Castiel and that night.

"I'm really not, Lisa. I'm far from good enough for you," Dean said, which only made Lisa start to cry again. Dean wrapped an arm around her, but she didn't lean into his touch. If anything, it seemed like she didn't want him touching her. He pulled his arms away and let her cry into her own hands.

"Lisa?" Benny said from the door. Dean hadn't even noticed him enter. Dean watched as Benny crossed the room, sitting by Lisa's bedside in a chair.

"Go away," Lisa said quietly from behind her hands. Benny's eyes filled with hurt.

"You don't want me here?" Benny asked softly. Dean shifted uncomfortably from Lisa's bed into the nearby chair. He wasn't sure why, but he suddenly felt like he was interrupting a private moment.

"I just want to be alone for a little bit," Lisa said, removing her hands from her face to reveal her red-rimmed eyes. She looked at Dean first, and then Benny. Dean could almost swear she looked at Benny for a second or two longer than she had looked at Dean. But that was probably just wshful thinking.

"Okay, Benny and I will go grab some coffee, give you a second to be on your own," Dean said, standing. he felt like he should kiss her or something, but he got the feeling she would like that about as much as he would in that moment. He opened the door for Benny and stepped into the hallway.

"Don't worry about it, she's just upset. It's not personal," Dean said, patting Benny on the shoulder. Benny nodded and looked at the floor. He was clearly hurt by Lisa' s earlier comments, and Dean could understand why. He was telling Benny it wasn't personal, but it had felt personal. And not angry. It wasn't like Lisa was mad at Benny...Dean didn't know what was going on.
