Sweetpea hadn't heard Y/N wake up, he'd simply woken up to an empty bed and soft music floating in the air. Deciding to follow the source, he found his beautiful wife of 4 years dancing in their living room in nothing but her horrible Christmas jumper and fuzzy socks. He smiled at the pure sight before him before making his way downstairs to join her

Y/N hadn't heard Sweetpea over her checklist in her head,  she'd been worried about everything and wanted everything to go smoothly especially since her disapproving parents were coming over this year. She stiffened when 2 arms wrapped around her but melted into them when she realised it was Sweetpea

"It smells amazing in here" Sweetpea hummed in his sleepy state
"I have a roast going on in the oven, and I made some mashed potatoes and some peas" she smiled, giggling at the peas part
"Peas? My favourite" Sweetpea said sarcastically
"Well I know their my favourite" Y/N smiled reaching up to give her tall husband a kiss

Not long into it, they heard a gag coming from the top of the stairs, followed by a squeal and the pitter patter of a small pair of feet. Y/N internally smiled at the thought of their 2 daughters

"Can you 2 like not make out in front of us" Casey groaned scratching her head
"Mommy! Daddy has cooties don't kiss him!" Julie squealed jumping into her mothers arms. Y/N let out a huff at the unexpected weight
"Daddy doesn't have cooties" Sweetpea fake pouted
"Aww, see now Juls you made daddy sad" Y/N teased

Julie reaches out to her father, wrapping her hands around his neck and cuddling into his neck

"I'm sorry daddy" she mumbled
"It's okay sweetheart. Now how about ice cream for breakfast!" Sweetpea suggested
"Noooo" you yelled "my parents are coming over and we cannot have her bouncing off the walls"
"You're what?!" Sweetpea said
"Is that why I have to be up at such an ungodly hour?" Casey groaned from the couch
"Yes, and plus it's Christmas so Case, wash Julie and get her dressed, I layed her clothes out last night and please" you turned to face your teen daughter "wear something appropriate"

Casey rolled her eyes before grabbing Julie and making her way upstairs. You rushed to the kitchen and pulled the roast out of the oven and set it out to cool. You walked back into the living room to find Sweetpea looking at the gifts under the tree with a confused look

"I thought we had a budget" he said slowly
"And we did" you said
"These look like they cost a fortune!!" Sweetpea exclaimed
"Look, you won't be so mad when you see what I got you" you said trying to change the subject
"Y/N-
"Look, it's Christmas, my parents are coming over so I had to go big or suffer their constant coming at me" you sighed

Sweetpea gave you a sympathetic look, being a Lodge wasn't easy. Constantly being over looked for Veronica was getting tiring and for the first time in over a decade, you had the spotlight, you had the first pick and you had to make it last

"Fine, but next time we're going to Target for gifts" Sweetpea joked giving you a kiss on the head
