Hitoshi was hesitant to ask, but he could tell that something was bothering his father.
Shota was still holding onto the cloud charm as if it was his tether to reality. His black eyes were slightly glossy again with unshed tears. He had a far away look that showed nothing in the regards of answering Hitoshi's unspoken questions. Normally Hitoshi could tell what people were feeling based on their eye expressions, but his father wore a mask over his emotions. A mask that was hard to chip away at let alone penetrate. It was like titanium, or better yet a diamond.
Hitoshi realized early on that his father's emotional mask could be exposed to the light of day, but those times were often surrounded by intense emotional pain.
He didn't want for his father to think about anything like that. "Dad we...we don't have to continue talking about this. I don't have to know what happened next to see that it's not a pleasant memory for you. I'm fine with not knowing Dad."
Shota sighed softly and turned to his son.
"I know son, but..."
He looked up at the night sky and closed his hand around the cloud charm.
"It wouldn't be fair to him."

Akemi wasn't the only one remembering the past. Hizashi Yamada was rummaging through his closet for something when he bumped a stack of boxes and old books. A small book fell and landed on his head.
"YEOW!" He rubbed his sore head and ultimately bit his cheek to stifle a curse as he looked down at the culprit to his pain. "Seriously What The—huh!"
His green eyes widened as his hands reached out for the opened book. It was a very small photo album.
His fingers rested delicately against the grinning face of Shira-Kumo.
His eyes dimmed as he remembered...
