"Who's Mizuki Rin?"
The sound of the shot glass shattering broke Hayato out of his frozen state.
"Gah! I'm sorry about that..." He knelt down to pick up the large broken shards.
"Are you okay?"
"I...I'm fine...it's just," he sighed heavily. Miyu read between the lines.
"Oh, she was your lover?"
Hayato's eyes were downcast. "I... I guess you could've called us that."
"Hayato, I don't want to make you uncomfortable but..."
He sighed heavily and spoke. "My relationship with Mizuki was...not the greatest. She...well I had my own issues we were yin and yang but not the good kind. Then she left for a mission one year ago and was basically pronounced MIA after a couple of months. I let my grief consume me for over a year. But then I realized...we were never a good fit. In fact, she was bad for me. Of course, I never wished anything bad to happen to her! But we were opposites and it was bound to explode on us one day anyway."
He sighed heavily again.
"She was the Marilyn Monroe of Japan, while I stay out of the media radar. The public didn't even know we were dating and I liked it that way. I was against the publicity...to those few hero agencies I work with that knew we were dating claim that we were the ultimate high school on-again-off-again dumpster fire."
He stared at his golden goggles.
"The dependency was two ways and she was never really happy over my choices to remain silent about our relationship and all my night shifts. She had a hatful tongue behind her sweetened smile. She was as intoxicatingly beautiful as her hero name, and used that devious beauty in manipulation..."
He closed his eyes.
"I wasn't blind, it's not like this wasn't my first relationship that left me broken and depressed inside. We were both suffering our own issues long before we started dating. My emotional need and desire to make it work overruled my mind that was constantly telling me to leave. I... I thought we were doing so well at the final month we were together, but whenever her narcissistically jealous personality and mean tongue decided to cut me down into a state of self loathing it was hard. I'm not proud of myself but...I had wanted to marry her."
Miyu frowned over his depressed and grieving tone.
"I wanted to help her. To show her how wonderful our lives could be. The last date she had planned herself but she stood me up to go drinking. I shouted at her when she arrived the next day in tears. I yelled saying that those people aren't her friends. She got defensive and angry and shouted at me through her tears. Blaming me for being so complacent as a nobody hero while she had to keep their relationship a secret. She always found a way to place the blame on me..."
-----------------------
Memories...Hayato was in tears. "I'm sorry I don't exactly enjoy the idea of being swarmed by jackasses with microphones!"
"YOUR LUCKY I EVEN STILL CONSIDER YOU HAYATO! THIS IS YOUR FAULT TO BEGIN WITH! NOT MINE! YOUR FRIENDS HATE ME!!! ALL I WANT IS TO BE SEEN IN PUBLIC WITH YOU!!!"
Hayato's eyes were always saddened by her tears. He hated dealing with her when she's like this. "I-I'm sorry...I don't want to taint your relationship with your adoring fans..."
She bowed her head and cried in anger. "I thought we were doing so well Hayato?"
"I did too..."
"I-I don't know what we have but-I DONT WANT IT TO END HAYATO PLEASE!!!"
She cried and Hayato was torn over his heart and his head. They were both so messed up emotionally and every time she would always pin it back on him. He didn't know what to do besides grab her wrist and pull her close into a fierce kiss before she pushed him upon his bed.
The shallow grunting of Hayato was matched only by the moaning of the woman with blond hair and cobalt blue eyes. Her thick massacre was dried in tear stain lines down her flushed peach colored face. Her sexy cobalt blue dress was on the floor as she unbuttoned his ninja hero outfit and tossed the goggles to the floor.
"Careful with those!"
"You be careful...you grab me any harder and your fingernails will break my skin!"
She was panting as she rode him. She cursed him out. "You're a real piece of shit sometimes Hayato..."
He grunted at her and spoke through his clenched teeth and red eyes. "So are you..."
"I said I was sorry!"
He grunted and groaned. "Then try to prove it to me next time please Mizuki. I love you..."
She grumbled with a pout. He sighed softly and continued moving against her. Mizuki smiled as she rolled her head back. "Ah! Ohhhh God your greatest quality is your body! It's like a dream!"
He sighed again and she looked down and swatted his chest. "Oh would you please stop staring at me like a sad puppy Hayato it's not attractive at all!"
He sighed heavily and reached up to pull her down onto him and kissed her neck as she moaned into their pillow.
"I'm sorry Mizuki..." He would always frown over how they got here. They were fine starting out but this was the toxicity of their relationship, with it always ending in her winning and him contemplating what they had. With her always acting like an angry love making would end all their arguments and they could start over on a clean slate afterwards was nothing but stagnation of a fallout.
Mizuki was pretty and passionate, but toxic like her hero name. Hayato remembered the look of relief that his friends had tried, but failed, to hide when he had told them Mizuki would be on a no-contact mission for a while. They had wanted him to use the time he spent apart from her to re-evaluate their relationship!
But re-evaluation turned into a void of worn-down emotions, after months passed without her return. His friends got what they wanted- Erasure and Moonflower were a thing of the past- but at the cost of the hollowing of their friend's emotional core. A deep psychological scar had added an even deeper pain as a unhealthy shade of purple became a constant sight underneath his eyes. The stench of alcohol stretched his already thin patience. But no one dared bring it up. Titanous and his wife Steel Magnolia had tried once to console him, as a means of emotional therapy but they were cut off halfway through with Hayato's angry yell.
"You think I can't take care of myself!?" He stormed away with his coffee afterwards, slamming the door behind him.
-----------------------
Hayato's eyes opened as he finished his depressing tale of toxic love."I guess I should've seen the warning flags, but, I was so used to her presence in my life that the fear of losing her and being left alone for the rest of my life was a worse fate than the toxicity of our relationship."
Miyu stared at him in sorrow.
"I took a long time to come to terms with my issues and the affect she had on me...it still hurts but it's in the past now."
He stood up with the broken shards and tossed them in the trash. "It's late and we've both said enough personal stories together. Please go rest, and remember what I said about leaving."
"I...I'm sorry you had to suffer with that. Thank you for the meal and listening."
He failed to respond and she grabbed his wrist.
"Hey Hero, you said you'd be a horrible human being if you didn't show a grieving person some compassion. Well allow me to return that kindness okay."
She sighed softly into a smile before heading to the guest room. "Night Hero."
