Jacob's POV

"Finally, it's done!" I stepped back and admired the product I had made.

My best friend, Sarah, who was currently living with me, came into the garage, where I had set up this whole thing.

"What the heck is that?!" She laughed.

It basically looked like a giant silver cylinder with six seats in it. And, of course, lots of buttons and wires around it.

"It's a time traveling machine," I said, pushing my goggles off of my eyes.

"Umm... a what now?!" Sarah asked.

"A time traveling machine," I repeated.

"Jacob, you're mental. Time traveling isn't real." Sarah said.

I shot her a dirty look. "Of course it is."

"Well... does this thing even work? Have you tested it out?" Sarah stared at the machine untrustingly.

"No," I admitted.

"How are you gonna test it out?" She persisted.

"I'll test it out with myself," I shrugged.

"What if it blows up and you die?!" she asked, horrified.

"It won't," I replied. "I just know it won't."

There was knocking at the door. "Oh, it must be them," I said, and opened the door. Laura, Sam, Sunny, and Annabelle walked in. Laura and Sam looked excited, Sunny looked bored and she was eating cheese (as usual), and Annabelle looked depressed. Nothing new.

"Why are you all here?" Sarah asked rudely.

"We're gonna go in Jacob's time machine and travel back in time, obviously!" Laura replied.

"I bet it doesn't work." Sarah sniffed.

"It'll work," Sam smiled. Sunny nodded in agreement while Annabelle stared off into space, lost in her own thoughts.

"What are we waiting for? Let's test this out!" Sunny demanded.

"Alright, alright," I said, and ushered them into the big cylinder. "Soooo... how far back in time do you guys wanna go?"

"Four months ago," Laura immediately replied.

"Is there a certain place you wanna be? Cause I can arrange that too."

"At school," Laura replied softly.

"Hey, the last day of school was four months ago! Did something happen on that day?" Sunny asked curiously.

Laura turned red. "N-No," she stammered.

"Well, okay, then," I said, and pressed some buttons. "Sit tight, ladies. This is gonna be a wild ride."

I fell onto the floor, in the hallway. "Well, that wasn't so bad!" I said out loud. Suddenly, Sarah, Laura, Sunny, and Sam fell on top of me.

"Ow.." Sarah said, and rubbed her head in the area where she had bumped it on my knee.

"Oh my god! Guys, he's coming!" Laura said, and with that, she shoved us behind a trash can.

"Who's comi-" Sunny said, but Sam put her hand over her mouth. A tall blond guy came around the corner, and brightened up as he saw Laura.

"Laura! I need to tell you something..." he started.

"Yes, balloo- I mean, yes, Louis?" Laura asked, blushing slightly.

"Aww, she totally likes him," Sarah whispered.

"I know, right?" Sam whispered back.

"Why are we all talking quietly?" I whispered.

"So that dude doesn't know we're here, duh!" Annabelle replied.

"Guys, shut up, I think the guy heard us," Sunny whispered. We all fell silent, but he was still talking to Laura. "False alarm," Sunny added sheepishly.

"Well... um... I like you..." Louis said quietly.

"I do too," Laura smiled at him.

"Awww," the girls gushed, and I allowed myself to grin slightly. But only slightly.

"Well, I gotta go... bye, Louis," Laura quickly said, and walked away. "Call me later, okay?"

"Okay," Louis grinned and walked away, his hands in his pockets.

When no one was looking, we got out from behind the trash can.

"That was so cute!" Sunny squealed.

"I will punch you," Laura said, but she was smiling.

"So, why did you choose to go back in time for this specific day?" I asked her.

"Well, when he told me he liked me, it didn't go too well, so I wanted to fix it." Laura replied.

"Aww~" Sarah said.

"SHUT UP!" Laura screamed.

We were back in the garage. "Where do you want to time travel next?" I asked the girls.

"Hmm, how about ten years from now?" Sam asked. "It would be interesting to see where we all are in ten years."

"Okay, get in the machine," I shoved them into the machine. "Specific place you want to be?"

"Just this house, I guess," Sam replied.

"Alright," I said, and pushed a few buttons.

We all filed into the living room. "There's no one here," I observed quietly.

"Yeah, no kidding, Sherlock," Laura muttered.

"Does this mean no one lives here? I thought we would've sold this place to someone else in ten years." I said to Sarah.

"I guess so." She replied.

Suddenly, a small toddler crept out from behind the couch. He had crazy, curly hair - like Sarah's. "Daddy!" he squealed when he saw me, and immediately ran over to me.

"Uh... what?" I asked, confused. "Who's child is this?"

"Daddy!" The child exclaimed.

"Listen, kid. I'm not your dad." I said.

"Jacob, you're an idiot. It's ten years from now. In ten years, you have a kid." Annabelle said sharply.

"Oh," I realized.

"Wait... who's the mom?" Laura asked. We all fell silent.

"M-Maybe I adopted a child," I said.

"Well, he looks a lot like Sarah-" Sunny said.

"OH MY GOD!" Sam screamed.

"THE MOM IS SARAH!" The twins said in perfect unison. We all turned to look at Sarah, whose face was completely red.

"Mommy!" The baby pointed at Sarah.

"See! Told you so," Sunny said smugly.

"Wait... does this mean we're together in ten years...?" I asked Sarah.

"Maybe," She said softly, but she was smiling. In that moment I realized that I liked Sarah, and maybe it wasn't so weird that we were together, although we had been best friends since we were five.

"Well... when we get back, will you go on a date with me?" I asked Sarah.

"Of course," She blushed.

Sorry for the bad endinggggg -Sunny
