I limp over to my bed as I start to fix it, throwing my pillows on the comforter. When I woke up this morning it was impossible for me to move my knee without feeling pain. When I pulled down my pants to see what the damage was to my knee I was shocked to see just how bad it looked. I knew I had hit the ground pretty hard yesterday, but I didn't think the bruise and swelling would be as bad as it is.
My entire knee was blue and purple and was slightly swollen, so I opted for my baggy pants so that the material of my pants wouldn't be too constricting around my knee. I sit down at the top of the stairs and slide my bum down until I reach the final step, slowly but surely pulling myself up to stand with the help of the railing.
"I really should've sued that store", I wince as I limp over to my kitchen. Suddenly my phone rings as I close the fridge door shut. "Hello?"
"Hey big sis!", my cheerful sister shrieks into the phone. I pull the phone away from my ear before speaking, "Why are you so cheerful?"
"Because the wedding is back on and it's in three weeks from now!", she screams. "What?! But I thought Devon-"
"He went for his checkup today and the doctors cleared him and said he's recovered really well. We can get married!", Jessica cries. I smile as I hear her talk, happy to know that my sisters life had turned out to be just like she had wanted it. She was getting married and before she knew it she'd have kids too. I was happy for my sister, I really was, but I couldn't help but think about my life and what the past couple of months have been like for me. My smile falters as I think about all that's happened to me this past month and my heart sinks.
"Hey, so I have to go, okay? I'm so happy", she squeals again. "I'm happy for you, I really am", I tell her. I hang up the phone and sigh as I place my head in my hands. I walk back over to the fridge and curse as I realize that my knee was hurting me, my brain temporarily forgetting that I had injured it.
I vowed to myself that if the swelling in my knee didn't go down by tomorrow I'd go to the hospital to get some x-rays done. I wasn't a huge fan of hospitals so I hope that the swelling goes down by tomorrow.
I start eating my breakfast in silence as I stare at the TV. I was completely and utterly bored, so I decided to clean out the closet in the hallway. I sit down, after trying to do so for five minutes and pull out a box. "Huh? I wonder what's in here", I whisper as I open the box. Inside the box there was a variety of things ranging from jewelry to cards and house decor, but it was what sat at the bottom of the box that grabbed my attention. I pick up the large photo album and place it on my lap as I push the box to my side.
The photo album made noise as I opened it. I smile as I see pictures of Jessica and I as kids. Towards the middle of the album an envelope fell onto my lap from in between one of the pages. I look down at the envelope in confusion as I pick it up, turning it over to see if it had anything written on it.
