Mick Thomson...

Sid had called me wanting back-up. I guess I could understand why. We had absolutely no fucking idea what Cole was capable of. After seeing what he had done to Ash, it was clear to me that he was a fucking coward, and a coward can be a dangerous animal.

I am not the social type, by any stretch of the imagination but Ash was Paul's little sister and that meant that she was family. And no one meant more to me than family. We had agreed to look out for Paul's family that included Ash. We hadn't been there of late and that did not sit well with me.

Upon hearing Sid's idea, I hadn't thought that it would produce much leads but knowing Sid and his feelings for the girl, it was impossible for me to deny his request of me being with him. Sid had the habit of just rail-roading his way into situations when it comes to sticking up for those he loved. It's not a bad thing, but in this instance, we need cool heads and cautious movements.

"They had better hurry the fuck up!" my friend grumped from the seat next to me.

We had caught sight of Cole packing bags into the boot of his father's car. Clearly, he was making a run for it. We had remained distanced, at my suggestion, and Sid had called the detective on Ash's case. We were trying to wait patiently. But Sid was animated to say the very least. I don't know what we are going to do if they leave before the police get here.

Should we follow them? Or maybe one of us should stay behind to tell the police what is happening? That won't go over well, I can almost hear them now - you have to let us do our job. It doesn't matter that it has taken a civilian to have found the man they have been hunting all fucking week.

"We'll handle it Sid, just sit tight!" I growled as Cole's father appeared with another bag and slid it into the boot of the car.

Just as Cole appeared next to his father at the side of the car, the blue and red flashing lights of the police came screaming into the small cul-de-sac street and screeched to a halt at the entrance of the driveway.

Cole made a run for it, heading in our direction. "Oh Hell...here we go!" I muttered opening my car door and unfolding my full 6'4 height onto the sidewalk, arms crossed over my chest and waited for him to look up at me and when he did - he came to a skidding stop.

With eyes like saucers, he looked to the other side of the car where Sid, who was much closer in size to him, he made to turn in that direction but the split second of indecision was all the time the police had needed and they crashed into him, bringing him down to the ground hard.

"Don't hurt him. He's a good boy. He wouldn't have hurt that harlet if she hadn't been sleeping around...please don't hurt him!" Cole's mother was pleading hysterically with the officers.

"Is she for fucking real?" Sid asked me.

"I guess some mothers really can't see past their own children!" shaking my head at the woman who glared at Sid.

"My son didn't do this...that slut he is living with is to blame for this...she took the wrong man to bed..." she spat viciously. Sid was instantly walking towards her.

Jumping in front of him, I grabbed his shoulders, forcing him to look at me, "Ash needs you right now!" I told him, "me on the other hand..." whirling around to look at the woman. Now people have often told me that I can be somewhat imposing and I try hard to just keep myself to myself, but now - that was the furthest thing from my mind as I straightened to my full height as I glared at the woman, "if I hear you so much as utter Ash's name along with the description of slut again, I will have you sued for slander. Save your breath and your negative bullshit to feed your fucking pathetic rapist son, whom by the way is gonna be really popular in jail when Ashlee puts him there!" Sid was sniggering almost instantly, I turned back to him, "get in the car!"
