Don't touch them

Chapter 5

  Matt stayed up most of the night thinking of what to do about what happened. He kept pacing the room which bothered Mark. "What are you doing?" Mark asked while staring at the boy who was pacing the room.

Matt stopped walking, looked at Mark and said," Nothing to worry about".

"We both know that's a lie. You and your friend are so loud and Danny was involved so tell me what happened" Mark said annoyed.

"His name is Charles Allit. We have a history together since he was an intern at my last job" Matt said with disgust.

"Why did you leave your last job? It couldn't have been only for Danny. I am not stupid so don't lie" Mark said sternly. "There's no getting out of it, is there?" Matt asked, already knowing the answer.

"Nope now spill," Mark said while moving his chair in front of the door and preventing Matt from leaving.

"Danny! You're here early today!" Danny's boss said surprised as she walked into the cafe.

Danny replied, "I wanted to come in early to help out since Liz is out trying to get that engineering job".

"You don't need to. You sure you want to take over her sift?" her boss asked.

"Yeah, it's fine. I don't mind helping" Danny said while smiling.

"Danny! What would I do without you?" she asked while she hugged Danny and Danny hugged back with the same amount of enthusiasm. When her boss let go, Danny went to the back to go change into her uniform which was a simple green shirt with a white skirt. She put her hair in a ponytail so her hair would be out of her face and put her visor on. Once she was done, she went to the front and started talking to Alice who was at the register.

"So how is Mark? Did he get into trouble?" Alice asked while setting up the register.

Danny helped out and replied, "Well he was in a tighter straight jacket when I first saw him this week, but ever since my brother started being a charge of him, he has been less violent and more social. Mark actually likes Matt and I am happy that he is letting someone else get close to him".

"Wait. I thought your brother was dead" Alice asked and stopped what she was doing.

"So did I, but our parents kicked him out and lied about it," Danny said annoyed.

"Wow, not to be mean, but your parents are jerks for doing that to both of you," Alice said then continued to set up.

"Yeah, but that's in the past now. I am glad that he is back. Now let's get ready for the store to open" Danny said while walking to the other side of the counter.

"Sure. Can I come to meet your brother today after work?" Alice asked.

"I don't see why not," Danny said while smiling and Alice thanked her.

The two girls finished getting ready for the store to open. Danny wiped down all the tables a counter once more and when she finished, someone walked in and Danny said, "Hello and welcome". She leads the customer to a table near the window and asked, "Do you know what you want or do you need more time?"

"More time if it isn't too much to ask for darling," the man said while smiling.

"No problem sir. Just call for me when you are ready" she replied and walked away. Danny kept an ear out for the man and went back to where Alice was. She leaned on the counter and waited for him to order. Alice tapped Danny's shoulder and said, "He's a new one. I never heard a customer call you darling. You know him?".

Danny turned and said, "No and he could just be nice. I know that a lot of people have nicknames for everyone they meet".

"Yeah I guess, but he seems suspicious," Alice said teasingly.
