"Hi Anne, Harry, Lauren. Come on in. Ashton isn't here yet, but once he's back, everyone will be here. Loving your costumes!" I heard Michael answer the door. Then I heard the chatter in the family room increase as the four of them entered it.

We were having a 5Sauce family get together, Halloween version. Everyone was dressed up, and having a good time. I gave up on trying to find some chips and texted Ashton to pick some up while he was at the store. He texted back that he would and I got myself a cup of water before joining everyone else in the family room. When I stepped in, all the adults were sitting on the couch, and the kids (including Michael and Calum) were setting up for a game of musical chairs. Of course, I joined in with Musical Chairs.

"So, do we have a judge? And someone to stop and play the music?" I asked.

"Mom! Will you be the judge? Please? And control the music? Please?" Harry ran up and asked his mother.

"Sure dear. Where's the radio?"

While Harry and Anne set up the radio, I helped Lauren, Michael, and Calum set up chairs. My brothers and Calum's sister decided they'd join us, so we set up seven chairs and started playing. Harry, Mali, Lauren and I won a game of Musical Chairs, in that order, before we decided to play a different game. We settled on a balloon game. You know that game where you blow up a balloon and then hit it in the air and try to keep it from touching the ground without catching it? That's the game we played.

The game was between Harry and Lauren when Ashton walked in. At the sight of him, both kids ditched the balloons and tried to beat the other to a very startled Ashton for a hug (Harry won). Ashton put down the bags in his hands and hugged both of them, then asked Michael and Calum to set up the snacks he'd bought while I helped him get the rest of the bags.

"Nonsense! Ashton, come join us, Joy and I will take care of the snacks, you spend some time here with everyone!" Ashton's mum said, and she grabbed the bags from Ashton while she and Joy walked out.

"Okay then. I got the mail. There's another one from Ms. Letters." He said, and he handed me the single letter that was tucked under his arm.

"Ms. Letters?" My mum questioned.

"Yeah. Remember a couple months ago, when I told you about the letter from that girl wh-"

"Oh, yes. Her. Why do you call her Ms. Letters?"

"She only signs her letters with 'L' so. . . we weren't sure what else to call her. It's the best we came up with." Calum shrugged. "What's it say Luke?"

"What does what say?" Joy asked as she and Anne entered the room with a bunch of snacks.

"A letter Luke just got. Apparently this has been happening for a couple months. Care to explain boys?" Karen said.

"I'll get the other letters." I sighed as Michael started explaining the situation. When I got back, I gave the first two letters to Karen, the other eleven to my mum, and then sat down on the couch and waited for everyone to be all caught up with the thirteen letters. It took nearly forty minutes, but the boys and I waited patiently to read the latest letter. The mums had similar reactions to my mum, about how she was special and if we got the chance to meet her, to take it and treasure the friendship. Then I started opening the latest letter and everyone crowded me to find out what it said.

"Alright, alright. We can't all read it at the same time. I'll read it out loud." I said. Once everyone had settled down on the couch, or a chair, or on someone's lap (Harry and Ashton), I began to read the neat scrawl of the mysterious 'L' girl aloud.
